    It's.......... BEAUTIFUL!!!

PRS Private stock guitars regularly run around $7,000-$10,000 due to the types of woods, master builders involved (including PRS himself) and the finish levels..."regular" stock PRS Grainger basses are around $2-3000 each so I'd say for a custom short scaled bass with custom made...

Double Bass Alternative - Semi-Acoustic Fretless

There's also the F Bass Alain Caron Classic, which has an incredible upright tone. George has done some major work combining flatwounds (Labella Tapewounds actually) with piezo pickups, a chambered body and a specialized preamp in creating an incredible sounding bass...

Neck on a Geddy Jazz, weak?

My old CIJ Geddy was like a barometer and I got REALLY good at tweaking the neck (despite having to take it off until I replaced the pick guard). After a tour where it would go wonky mid-set due to climatic changes, I couldn't stomach using it any more. Great playing neck, awful to ensure...

Was just going to say the same thing. I've seen him locally (Hamilton, Ontario) several times recently, backing up his son Jordan!

    TecAmp Dream Buzz Deluxe

When I was in at F-Bass headquarters to pick up my BN5, I spied the TecAmp Dream Buzz Deluxe pedal as George now distributes this line in Canada. Having seen very little online about it, I arranged some time last night to check this pedal out... It's a very nice, very polite Big Muff clone...

New Bass Day F Bass BN5

Given that I live, literally, 5 minutes from F Bass' factory and showroom in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, I have been trying to avoid the wiles of Mr. Furlanetto's wares. However last year, when I hosted Trip Wamsley for a house concert and visit to Toronto, a trip to the factory was in order...

Albums that make you rethink bass

Bozzio, Torn, Karn - Polytown Tony Levin - World Diary Both made me rethink my overall tone, note choice and bass as a melodic instrument to drive a composition.

NEW: What amp do you use and why?

I use a Trace Elliott V-type preamp for my main tone. I use TecAmp products for volume and support. Both give me a nice warm, full-range tone that I can use other tools to tailor for the gig!

Replacement for Bartolini MK2 6-String pickups

Hi there, I own an Ibanez BTB 676 which is my main bass for solo gigs and am becoming increasingly unhappy with the sound of the stock Bart MK2 installed in it. I'm looking for replacement pickups that would require little to no routing/modification to the bass itself. Would any of the...

    Peavey - Quality and Sound????

This reminds me of a gig I had last year where I was visited by a number of bassists including a Talkbass user. I used my Warmoth/Moses build that I put together. The Warmoth body was one of their "Showcase/Sales" items... Most of my bassist friends commented on the tone of the bass and how...

Why do you own the basses you own?

Of the basses I currently own: Hohner B2 Steinberger copy (converted to fretless) - purchased as my second bass (due to a back injury, it's light weight and short length made things easier to play), converted to fretless when I got what I thought was the bass of my dreams (Rickenbacker 4003...
