As luck would have it, I *also* took delivery of a Lakland hollowbody today. I tested it in my Roadrunner gig bag with and without the extra bottom pad and either works. Maybe a bit too snug with the bottom pad.

Speaking of the JO necks, I have a 2001 and it is hands-down the best neck I've ever played. Does anyone know if that same neck shape is used on any of Lakland's p-basses? I'm thinking maybe a skyline 44-64 custom or the Duck Dunn model since they have a 1.5" nut, but I'm not sure how similar...

FYI - that exact bass is up for sale on FB marketplace: Facebook Looks like the pickups got switched out.

The above caught my eye. I have an Oliver B120. A local tech eliminated the bad hum it had when I got it, but it still sounds really boxy and mid-heavy. I've got the mids turned almost all the way off and it sounds fine, but I'd love for it to be a bit warmer-sounding (I know, I know). I...

What pickup configuration would you choose if you wanted to get one 5-string fretless?

Pretty good price, you'd likely pay a bit over $1000 for a 55-02. I'd ask about the weight, I know some can be heavy. My 44-02 is 8.5 pounds FWIW

What pickup configuration would you choose if you wanted to get one 5-string fretless?

I started on fretless with a Stingray but was looking for something a bit more flexible (don't @me Stingray lovers) and sought out a fretless Lakland 44-02. It's flexible enough that I can ape most sounds I'm after. 55-02s might be a hair over $1000, but I did see this 55-01 on the 'verb...

That's fantastic - I saw the ad on FB as well and the thought crossed my mind. Perhaps someday I'll ante up for a B-15. For the time being I'm happy with my Oliver B120 and Broughton Fliptop. Glad to know it went to a good home!

I don't know if I love or hate 60s specs on a P bass - anyone else feel this at one point?

Same here - I *love* the look of that charcoal frost + tort combo and I've been low key looking around for a new p bass for the last few years. I headed over to the GC near me since they had one of these exact basses in stock. Looked amazing, sounded great, but I couldn't get on board with...

    Squier Rascal Bass-Convince Me

It's still the most fun-to-play bass I own.

Squier Paranormal Rascal bass - are they all heavy?

Mine's 9.4 pounds. After two years, it's still the most fun bass I own and the one I reach for the most to noodle around on.

    short scale, thin neck suggestions

+1 for the Squier Paranormal Rascal. I was looking for a short scale as an alternative to my 34" scale basses and tried several. The Rascal has a very comfy neck. 1.5" at the nut and thinner like a Jazz. It's still the most fun to play of my four basses, and it's easy to switch between it...

Is your short scale bass your main bass?

Lately I've been switching between my MIM Precision and Rascal Paranormal, both with flats. Due to the weird length and bridge placement on the Rascal I don't have to do much to adjust between the two. I'm not sure that I'll ever go all-in for short scale, but the Rascal is probably the most...

Anyone know what a flat EQ would look like for this amp? If this EQ is more like what Fender used compared to a James circuit, would flat be the bass and treble turned off and the mids all the way up? This amp has knobs for bass/mid/treble/ultra low/ultra high.

    Broughton Audio Super Thread

Same. And yet, still glad I got it taken care of. I've never been much of an effects guy but between ordering a Fliptop, picking up a compressor last year, and my likely acquisition of a long-needed pedal tuner I should probably start looking into getting a small board.
