Lakland Owners Group #69

NCBD!

New Carlo Bass Day!

I'm not sure if I have the "most" Carlos....but I just picked up #6 today! (the one on the far left).

It is a satin/matte finished cherry burst on a one piece body.

The neck is maple/ snakewood board.

Electronics are LH3 Preamp with Bartollini XXP25M soapbar pickups (basically P pickups)

Pretty darn light at 8 lbs 5 oz.

I cannot wait to play it this weekend!

Thank you!

Carl is truly an artist. I just love his work. And I will once I get a chance to actually Play it for a bit.

I gave it about 10 minutes earlier before dinner tonight and it sounds absolutely fantastic. It has a lot of definitely usable tones.

If you liked the playability but couldn't bond with the tone and setup, I'd highly recommend the DJ5 if you want to get back to a Lakland. Sure you could get a 55-60 but something about the body shape of the DJ5 just felt really nice and comfortable. I used to have one but only sold it due to the weight. So if you find a light one (≤ 9 lbs), jump on it or at least strongly consider it.
I have had the same experience on a few occasions. Where folks love the 55-02 I also could never bond and the DJ5 continually returned as my #1 over and over. Do give that a try if you get the opportunity.
