+1 on the Blues Bass book!...........I also refer back to Building Walking Bass Lines, Bass Grooves, and The Working Bassists Tool kit books quite a bit. Great stuff!
Ive used the Joyo Vintage Phaser (decent clone of the MXR 90) which runs about 50 bucks cheaper. I think more players use phaser, but Im finding more uses for flanger myself.
with flats I like the eq 11 oclock treb.. 2 oclock mids and 11 oclock bass...I think the BT can get close to those vintage bass tones (London, Paris recordings) of the early 60's.
tension and brightness wise can anyone compare them to the GHS P flats (105,80,60,45)?..I went from Chromes (too bright) to the GHS... was thinking about trying the 9050s but never did.
think the American would sound better with a J or 4003? I'll give it a go....I am running the UD through a bass vt which helps the UD a lot..seems like the UD is better with a chunky Pbass tone
after a little while with the Joyo Vintage Phaser its seems better than the previous phaser pedals ive tried and owned...best with the speed between 10 and 2 oclock (most are) for me. for $31 bucks.. cant really beat it anyway.
