I finally get the hype with TI strings

In general, the barts are more 'woody' than the emgs. they sound more 'organic' than the emgs which have more 'bite' to them...kind of a more modern sound with the emgs over the barts. I think the best of both worlds would be a TBX with emgs...(lol, only the gods can afford those, however). as...

I finally get the hype with TI strings

I never do anything half way apparently, and i've not played rounds on a bass in more than a decade. I find that leaving my eq pretty much flat with a slight bump on the low knob on the bass itself really yields a nice woody thunk and with a firm pick (i switch between a clayton 1.52 triangle...

I finally get the hype with TI strings

I've been playing TI Flats on my basses for more than a decade. My Modulus Q6 with EMGs sounds pretty good to me, infinitely better than the rounds that were on it when I got it. Played with a few friends tonight and ran the bass directly into the board... I've got them on my Guild SF-I...

quantum V modulus users How do you get the most out of your Q5

TI Flats. That's the only mod i've made to my Q6 (emgs) and my Q5 (barts). They both sound amazing, with the barts coming in a tiny bit 'woodier' to my ears.

Question about mismatched Eden bass cabs...

Thanks for the link!!! My understanding is that the two amps can run separate with a balance between hi/low and the crossover setting the cutoff where the highs and lows get separated between the two cabs. I can probably get away with the 4x10 by itself, but i'm not getting the lows I want...

Question about mismatched Eden bass cabs...

I've got a 4 ohm 4x10 and an 8 ohm 1x15 with a wt800 head. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever had experience running them together, and what do I need to be concerned with if I do so. Do I need to run the crossover differently? The balance between the two cabs may be off i'm...

First time in 18 years of playing..

I've got TI's on two of my moduluses (moduli?), a Q6 and Q5. would never go back to rounds...played with the same set on my Tobias basic 6 for somewhere around 10 years before changing them out. They just get better as they age. And bonus...fret wear is almost nil. :) Oh, and I too play...

New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

While I haven't played the Newark St Korean SF, the GSR is amazing. I think the problem is that there is a VERY limited number of folks who would plunk down $3k+ on a reissue bass. Heck, I wouldn't have done it, but a friendly supporter had a bit of money to burn and gifted me with one...

New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

geesh! cut me some slack, i'm still new around here :hmm: at any rate, no one was considering excluding anyone we were just exchanging hellos and touching on things that we had in common. sorry if it irritated you that two folks connected on multiple levels.

New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

I assume you've seen Phil's (and Mike's [damn copycat]) new meyer rig? Heck, even an alembic SF-1 preamp can do most if not all of what those knobs were for....knobs are great, but it's probably better to have them outboard...even Phil said he never used all the knobs that much (see his book)...

New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

Thanks! T'was a whole bunch o' fun. Check out some of the other stuff in my favorites. More with the SF and some with my Tobias 6. If you want to hear what the tone of the SF sounds like played through an eden wt800 and 410xlt recorded with my iphone on my music stand, check this out...

New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

Indeed! :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ursn3jQGpFo Oh, and as far as neck dive? none as far as I can tell. my modulus q5 neckdives more. the guild sf is just so light...the hardest thing for me to get used to was the size of the body itself and the lack of a rounded edge at the top of...

New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

But seeing the close up pics of the real thing, it's quite disheartening. I have wanted a SF for many many years...I passed up on one of Fred's DSed Dearmonds several years ago, and kick myself when I think of it... On the other hand, somehow one of the GSR SF I basses was handed to me a short...
