Song(s) that you wish to be able to play someday?

Malaga Virgen by Brand X. I'll be working on that one for quite awhile.

Hey, that guy who flew the airplane into a building in Austin was a bassist...

+1! I have almost zero respect for any of our nation's politicians, and would love to see some political change. That being said, it is NEVER permissible to harm innocent people to try to change the political scene. I'm just thankful that he can't hurt any other people.

Give me some progressive rock/metal masterpiece albums.

Hate to add another post, but I want to bring up Gentle Giant's Free Hand. Quite a nifty lil' album.

    TB's #1 Album Semi-Final #2

Of the list above, my vote went for The Yes Album.

    What is overplaying ?

If your playing becomes detrimental to the groove, then it's overplaying.

Victor Wooten is second teir skill wise now

Not trying to bash Masaki too much, but listening to him reminded me of listening to an annoying guitard shredder. Serious wanking IMHO, but to each his own.

Which famous bassist are you most like?

I'd say I'm an inferior mix of Boz Burrell and John Paul Jones. I like to use busy parts when applicable, but more than anything else I'd rather have bass parts that fit, regardless of degree of difficulty.

    Favorite Weird Song

+1. Ummagumma had some pretty neat (albeit messed up) tracks, and "Several Species..." is probably my favorite of the album.

    Rush or Dream Theater?

I like DT, but I have no hesitation in giving the nod to Rush. With Rush I can sit through the whole album, whereas I struggle to do this with DT. Plus, it's hard to argue against a band with 19 studio albums.

    songs you HATE

I'm feeling full of hatred today, so first here are the artists/bands that I absolutely hate: T-Pain Nickelback Lady Gaga

As a bassist, who are your favorite guitarists?

My favorites guitarists are usually the guitarists who can work well in the band without being the sole center of attention. My list is: Martin Barre (his work with Jethro Tull is underrated IMHO) David Gilmour Steve Howe Alex Lifeson Kerry Livgren (not flashy, but he knew his role and played...

    Geddy Lee overrated??

Fair enough. While I don't completely agree with you, I can see where you're coming from. We can definitely agree that his rhythm work is just incredible. It's amazing...we just had a discussion with opposing views without any flaming (not to say that we've flamed each other ever, but there...

    Geddy Lee overrated??

Alex Lifeson can't solo??? I'll agree that his early solos weren't great, but there are some good solos on Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. When I hear the solo on Free Will, the one thought that never crosses my mind is "Wow that solo sucks". To each his own I guess.

    Jeff Schmidt (upside down bass)

I gotta admit it took me awhile to notice anything weird about the stringing. My dad plays a left handed bass strung right handed, so growing up I got used to seeing it. I can see how it would be confusing though.
