    From what I've seen, the badass III isn't meant to be an improved model or anything, just a different model for a different purpose. The Badass II is for 5 screw Fenders, while the Badass III is for the newer model 3 screw MIA Fenders.

    How red is it, if its painted red it may be refinished or even a parts bass. As far as I know the K5 only came in transblack and some are natural mahogany which I guess can look kind of red

    Almost bought one once, back when they still had the fender copy headstocks on them, but when I was just about to pull the trigger I came across a deal on a bass I couldn't pass up and never got back to it. Don't really care for the looks of the headstocks they have now

    +1 I've always liked the sound of bass, ever since a kid even listening to music, I've always cut the mids and highs and boosted the lows to make the bass stand out.

    not that their better, just that pre 2001, MIM jazzes used 2 neck pick ups, making string to pole alignment impossible for the reasons in my previous posts. Some people are very picky about pole alignment, some aren't. Personal preference I guess

    Because the string spacing tapers from the bridge to the 1.5" nut, the strings are further apart at the bridge than the neck, so the bridge pup is normally wider to keep the pole pieces lined up with the strings

    Not stolen from me, but looking through the craigslist ads yesterday, saw an ad placed by a store owner who said he found a Rickenbacker laying in his parking lot, and looking for an owner to identify some markings, so someone sure had a bad day when they went to unload their car
