    Anybody Else Running Vintage Vox?

It’ll have to get behind a R2R, a MiniDisc, and old BMW 7 series . It’s just for recording, don’t play out live anymore, and is much easier to get around than the Fender. Also vintage amp guys are like hen’s teeth around here……..especially Vox.

    Anybody Else Running Vintage Vox?

im no tech so hesitate to rip into it. I’ve used a few, and with the beautiful unmistakable sound, perfect for that smooooth tone it gives. more than enough for recording, and the one I had in the 80s was actually off a guy using it in a local restaurant band, 3 piece, and worked well. I was...

    Anybody Else Running Vintage Vox?

The hum in the 80s was like a high pitched squeal. This one is definitely a low pitched hum.

    Anybody Else Running Vintage Vox?

I used to have a Vox Essex in the 80s, and through no fault of my own it disappeared. Was a great sounding/recording amp especially for my 67 Höfner and (new at the time) 85 RIC 4003s. Flash forward to 2023, and another one finally took its place. Only downside is a tremendous low hum ruining...

    TI Flats Question

I’ve been a TIJF convert for years. Once finding them, they live on my 67 Höfner, 85 RIC 4003s and 11 Telecaster Bass. Tried to like them on the 99 Precision but couldn’t (wife threw that set out GRR). The P recorded great with LaBella DTF, and Smith 35 gauge round wounds. The Höfner is my...

    50s Pbass pickup. Pre CBS?

If 1950s, that would certainly mean pre-CBS. Goes without saying.

    Opinion on Höfner Basses?

And? I’ve used Höfner strings until switching to T-I for Höfner about 12 years ago. What’s the problem?

    Opinion on Höfner Basses?

I too have a 67, and love those blade pickups. Same thing, it’s my most requested bass for session work always has been, and since I started using T-I flats for Höfner about 12 years ago, it’s only gotten better. It’s more versatile now because of them, and can easily sound 10 feet tall! Huge...

    Rickenbacker sound

For Pepper/MMT he was using primarily a Vox bass amp. I’ve got a 68 Vox Essex to use with my 67 Höfner when I want that sound, Although they all shared use of a Fender Bassman starting 1965 in the studio. In the 70s as more tracks became available for recording, he did use a D-I & Miced amp...

    Fender Flats

I’ve wanted to try them with my 99 Precision with a set of Bare Knuckle 58 pickups. Looking for that Klaus Vormann sound. Got a very good “70s FM” sound with LaBella Deep Talking flats, but still searching for Klaus, and playing his famous 62 Precision on JLPOB, Imagine, ATMP, etc. I know he...

    Ibanez SR780

I was NEVER saying anything about it not being the bass from that actual ad. You seem to not understand. Never mind, I’ll wait to hear from someone else.

    Ibanez SR780

That’s not the point at all. I already know this model was only made in 2009.

    Ibanez SR780

That’s not my bass, that’s an ad.

    Ibanez SR780

I posted 8 pictures of it yesterday, look back at earlier threads. However, I mentioned each bass I own, and it’s painfully obvious this Ibanez (again supported by the photos) is the bass in question.
