    A drummer from another band said something along the lines of, "if I can do anything half as good as that kid plays bass, I can die happy". I liked that one.

    You could look into Streetlight Manifesto. If you don't particularly like their original material they did an entire album of ska covers including Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard and Just by Radiohead.

    Heavy Basses?

    I sold my Epi Thunderbird because it was too heavy. That, and the tone was really dark and I prefer more mid-range. I'd say look into a Thunderbird.

    Whats the hardest song you play?

    This is not quite what you're asking, but 500 channels by Choking Victim is the most difficult song I play. It's fast and repetitive so by the time I get to the end of the song one of my hands is in pain. However, no one stops playing when I mess up... its a punk band, no one cares.
