NBD: Fender MIM Jazz (With a few extra things!)

Oh, I'm in love with the mint pickguard. The guy also included a white one, but I feel it won't be seeing much use.

NBD: Fender MIM Jazz (With a few extra things!)

After scouring the internets for a new bass, and having my mind pretty set on wanting a J, I had decided to get a Squier VM Jazz. I was about to pull the trigger when I'm told that a friend has a MIM Fender J he's selling. This is fantastic for me because, not only is it faster than ordering...

Female drummer in a band consisting of males - The debate.

Your bandmates are afraid they won't be able to "be themselves" around her? What, are they standing on street corners cat-calling ladies every show/rehearsal? It just sounds douchey to me. Either that, or they think that a band with a girl in it won't be able to "get 'em laid". I hate sexism...

    Challenge: Match this sound!

Oh man, the Whammy GAS again. It's sitting on my Sweetwater wish list. Staring at me... Begging for me to buy it.

First song you remember learning to play on bass?

Funny thing about "Californication": Once I actually figured out the correct parts (Like a few weeks after learning it), that was the last time I had to read the tabs or notation to it. To this day I remember it by heart and often play it with friends while jamming.

First song you remember learning to play on bass?

If I'm not mistaken, it was "Dammit" by Blink182. Haha. I felt so proud of myself; I could actually play a song that me and my friends recognized. Just good times. After that, the first "complicated" song I tackled was "Californication" by RHCP. The album had just come out and I was...

    Earthquaker Devices Monarch Clips

I've been looking into Earthquaker a lot, recently. This thread is definitely helping! The Monarch was there in my list along with the Hoof/Reaper. Whichever one I get, I'll be sure to let you guys know how it behaves.

    Death From Above 1979

Blood On Our Hands is where it's at. Man, I might just play that riff when I get home. I'm also in love with the new song.

When did playing bass(or guitar) become comedy?

I don't think it has as much to do with whether being a musician is "cool" or not, and more to do with your co-workers being dicks. Just saying. :p

    Justin Chancellor's tone

For what it's worth, I wouldn't blame a guy for trying to get as close as possible to his favorite player's tone. I'm a sucker for Sean Malone's, for example, yet I don't have a fretless bass. That severily hinders my progres. Haha. I HAVE gotten close, and I do have a Fender Rumble / Yamaha...

    Justin Chancellor's tone

Previous posts are right, it's all in the Wal. Also, you know, the 700 pedals and compressors he uses. There's a pretty detailed video of his rig on YouTube somewhere, it's posted by Dunlop. (Sorry if someone already did post this, I'm at work and can't see videos). I know he uses one 8x10...
