Funny thing about "Californication": Once I actually figured out the correct parts (Like a few weeks after learning it), that was the last time I had to read the tabs or notation to it. To this day I remember it by heart and often play it with friends while jamming.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't blame a guy for trying to get as close as possible to his favorite player's tone. I'm a sucker for Sean Malone's, for example, yet I don't have a fretless bass. That severily hinders my progres. Haha. I HAVE gotten close, and I do have a Fender Rumble / Yamaha...
