NBD-MIM Fender Jazz Bass

Actually a couple of days ago but just got to taking a picture of the bass just now. It's a 2008 Fender Jazz bass in excellent condition I picked up for $200. I think it was hardly used - had enough basses but I couldn't pass this up, besides I wanted a "true" Jazz bass in my collection. I was believe it or not, Anti-Fender for about 30 years - I didn't want to conform and opted for more unusual basses with multiple knobs, active with Eq controls but either due to old age, or just wisdom altogether, I've come to realize that perhaps Leo had the right idea. Simplicity and functionality is really all I need...not to mention a decent amp.
Attached is a picture of my 3 current Fender basses - the new-to-me MIM Fender Jazz, my MIA Fender JP-90 and my modified MIM Fender P-Bass. (with Badass II bridge and SD pickups). Oddly enough, if I had to pick one that has most of everything I look for in a bass, it would have to be the JP-90. Light, thin neck, and sounds fantastic. If one can get over the funky pickguard that is.
Now that I'm over my Fenderphobia, perhaps a MIA Fender Jazz is next.

Congrats. Midnight Wine Metallic is one of the nicest finishes Fender ever offered, IMHO.

I almost bought a midnight wine Jazz from a Craigslist seller…or at least, I would've if the guy would've if the guy had replied to my damn queries! I mean, really…either respond to someone interested or take the freakin' ad down, people! [/hate-fueled-rant]

Are you gonna keep the white pickguard? I ask because one of the mods I often see most with midnight wine basses is either something pearlescent or a black guard (my personal fav).

Oh, and my GAS-based-tapeworm wants to call "dibs" should you decide it's just not working out for you.

Thanks guys. This bass really made my week as wife and kids are out of town for vacation and I was left manning the fort here. I responded within an hour of the posting on CL being put up by the seller. I had a feeling it wouldn't last very long at all. Oddly enough, there was another MIM Fender Jazz that was going for $250 at around the same time this posting went up, I didn't have the time to go for that one as well or else I'd have jumped on it too. It was strange because MIM Jazz basses go for an average of $300-400 where I live and all of sudden these two postings for Jazz basses going for $200 and $250 . I picked this one to concentrate my efforts in acquiring as it was only used for a recording (owner decided he wanted an active bass instead) so it was in fantastic shape and it was a color that I really liked. The other one was black and was more, well, used from what I could see in the photos - not bad at all, mind you.
I do have designs on getting a black guard as examples I've seen online looked pretty darn sexy- I'll also keep the original and switch them every now and then.

Malak, only way I will let this bass go is if I, for some ridiculous reason, get offered an Aerodyne for it. ahem.....in other words, I want your bass man!

I took a pic of it.. sorry for the bad lighting and bad shot. It's a metallic silver logo. So it's an early '08 I guess. Not that lucky but still very happy.
I also took the effort to block out the serial number, with all the posts about the counterfeit Musicman Stingray basses, I'm a little paranoid lol

Seriously though, I appreciate your appreciation, but my 'Dyne was the very first bass I purchased. It would take some tragic turn of events to make me want to part with it. That being said, I'll remember what you said should that tragic day come.

Well, speaking of necks, it's likely you've read me ranting about this, but it bears repeating, especially if you're thinking about hijacking purchasing an Aerodyne in the future. While they have the 1.5" nut-width of a Jazz, it also bears a curvier, vintage-style fretboard radius…7.25" vs. the current Fender-standard 9.5". They work very well for me, but not necessarily for everyone. If you don't have a 'Dyne to try and see, the Classic '60s and '70s Jazzes have them too. No coincidence that the 'Dyne informed my decision to proffer up two Squiers + cash to get a beautiful used '70s Jazz (mit SKB hardshell case…yay GC!).
