I don't see why a 5th string would indicate skill, I personally don't like 5 strings because I would never use that low B for anything, but that doesn't mean that I'm suddenly untalented or something like that. I would have wanted to knock him out too if he pulled that crap on me.

I think they're difficult in their own ways. basses have huge frets and bigger strings, so doing real complicated stuff can be a little difficult if your fingers can't stretch and maintain strength to push down the strings, that's why I feel guitar can be easier sometimes, because you barely...

Have you talked with your drummer about it? maybe one day you and him should just jam since it's both of your jobs to hold to pulse, maybe you'll time your bass parts to his drum beats as time goes on.

I like schecters, They're a very classy bass for type of sound they can put out, and they seem to be in decent supply, too. the only problem I've had with them is whenever I play them at GC the action is so low that that strings are almost touching the neck before I even put my fingers on them.
