Yeah. You pretty much have to commit to the slightly odd shape or try joining the upper and lower curves perhaps to eliminate the "spike."

I'm not sure the brand matters in this price point. What does matter is how the bass is set up from the factory or dealer. For that reason I would recommend buying from Sweetwater as their budget offerings always seem to play better than ones from my local store. Just my $0.02.

Up for sale is a newly assembled BYOC Bass Overdrive. The pedal works as it should but it isn't going to replace any of my other pedals so I am offering it up to someone else. The enclosure is unpainted so you can paint or decorate it as you like. Just $15 to send to anyone in the CONUS.

I have a couple of Carvins as well as a few homemade instruments with tung-oil or tru oil on the neck. They are all quite stable and I love the feel. I'm sure the satin poly is just as nice. I just don't like a glossy finish on a neck.

I think NOS preamp tubes can be a great value and not nearly as risky as being old power tubes or rectifiers.

I think the black pickguard would looke pretty good, too.

Not sure if it's too late to join the club, but I love my Combustion. Can only drool at the "real" Dingwall models.
