The spec on the Bas Platinum Pro state that the 1/4 output will go up to 10 dBU or about 2.45 V RMS. The XLR will only go up to -6 dBU or about 0.350 V RMS. I dont believe the posts that say the XLR is "hotter"

I vote for P J s. But maybe mine is a J P, because I put a jazz neck on it. I like the Jazz neck much better but when I play in cover bands I want the tone variation I can get with the P J set of pickups. I also added a phase switch to flip the P mix into the J, all passive of course...
