    Best pickups for metal

I'd recommend you find some better metal :hiding: Large exposed-pole humbuckers in the vein of MM pups are my favorite for a fat metal tone that keeps a lot of clarity in that sort of soundscape; Delano, Nordstrand and Duncan have a few each; driving root-note background rumbles and such. edit...

Low B Volume is low on one pickup only. (New EMGs)

Adding my 2c in for future thread-searcher reference, I have an instrument with the same pickup combo and the low B sounds like poo coming out of the P5 as opposed to the humbucker. In fact, nearly all of the strings sound like poo coming out of the P5. Will swap in the future.

Popped an E. No Burr that I can see. Help.

The only string I've ever broken was a B that had a huge saddle bur from fooling around. Sanded it down, no trouble since it happened two years ago.

why do i rarely see people who love p basses

This thread is great, I don't know what everyone's talking about. Precision appreciator here, my EMG P is stupidly bright so it's not soloed often. However, my huge mitts love that bat-neck.

    Dead spot removal

Bumping because this is a great thread, my LTD Surveyor has a dastardly spot on the 5th fret, G string. I was bored one day and simply hung a near-empty roll of duct tape off the far tuner... Problem completely solved, much to my amazement. Can't gig like that, but it works for my solo jam tone...

    EMG Rev-S Factory Preamp

Hey Talkbass, my LTD Surveyor has one of these, it's a 3-band wired into EMGs with a coil tap for a TW pickup; I don't have much experience with preamps aside from MEC's and this one, if you have experience with a few preamps would you consider swapping it out for a different pre such as a Bart...
