Anybody Offering A Decent New Short-Scale Model This Year?

I'm looking to add a short-scale bass to my arsenal but I'm having trouble finding anything in stock anywhere. I'd like to get my hands on one before I buy but if it's from a reputable maker and has a few good reviews, I'd chance buying online and dialing in the setup myself. Thanks

    Jazz bass controls?

Here's the Stewart-Macdonald explanation: 250K pots give a slightly warmer tone than 500K because the 250K bleeds off some of the high frequencies. 250K = warmer 500K = brighter 1 Meg = brightest Usually, 250K pots are used with single-coil pickups and and 500Ks are used with...

Removed the Blend pot from my J

My '86 Ibanez Roadstar II came with a Blend/V/T setup and since I replaced the pups, I've been considering switchin' that to V/V/T. I'm gonna try wiring in 500K pots all the way down the line to see if I can get what I'm lookin' for sound-wise. If that doesn't do it... sounds like the V/V/T...

Could a bad solder joint make my G string sound plunky?

I just installed new pups and pots on my 4-string and restrung it with Ernie Ball flats. Everything "seemed" go together okay but, while my E, A, & D strings sound great, my G-string seems to missing on the attack. The sustain is there but it doesn't ring like the other 3. Whaddya think...

    Installation (NOT a wiring question!)

Nope - the cover slips right off the core. Thanks, Guys - I think I got what I need. Guess I'm not crazy afterall. (And don't call me "Shirley"!)

    Installation (NOT a wiring question!)

I guess then the question is: Why wouldn't the "foam" be supplied with pickup (especially since they offer NOTHING by way of actual installation instructions). If there'd have been "foam" in the package I wouldn't have had to bother UBU with my STUPID question! Anybody know where to get...

    Installation (NOT a wiring question!)

OK! The pickup (a Seymour Duncan STK-J1b) came with 4 screws and 4 rubber sleeves. I deduced that the sleeves go around the screws to provide a spring-like action to raise the pickup when you loosen the screws. The sleeve/screw configuration does a FINE job of supporting and/or adjusting the...
