Last Albums You Listened To In Their Entirety?

Ty Segall - Possession. Released yesterday though I've had the pre-ordered CD for a week. I've listened to it all the way through several times. Best album of 2025 so far IMO, and I suspect I'll soon think it's his best work, which is a high bar.

    New Ampeg Venture Series

Why not get a V12? I have that combination and it's excellent.

    Ventura Any good?

I have both a v7 and v12 amp, and v210 and 410 cabs and love them. Sold my other gear. There's also a thread with mostly positive reviews here: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/new-ampeg-venture-series.1623022/

    New Ampeg Venture Series

I sold my TH 500 and SL 210 after trying the V7 and V 210. The Aguilar stuff is really good; don't get me wrong. I just like the warmth of the Venture equipment, and as a bonus it is easier to dial in. But...YMMV of course and it's great to have so many excellent choices.

    New Ampeg Venture Series

Should be great for metal and hardcore. But people are picky, so I don't know if that general statement will apply to you. No idea about ex-yu-rock, but i looked it up and can't think why it would require anything special. What do you think might make ex-yu-rock bass amplification needs unique?

Ernie Ball Flatwounds - Very pleasantly surprised! Cobalt Flats are A+++ on a StingRay

I have EB Cobalt Flats on all three of my Sandbergs. Landed on them after trying several other flat and round strings. As others have notes, they take a while to break in and produce a balanced set of tones. (Context: I play loud indie with a pick).

    New Ampeg Venture Series

@Steficek , I play similar music and by far my favorite amps and cabs now are Venture series. I have a V7 paired with 210, and V12 paired with 410. I play 3 different Sandbergs with a pick. The tones are fantastic and I like everything else about that equipment. FWIW, I sold my Aguilar TH 500...

    Who's everyone's favorite bassists?

I'll offer a few alternative bass players who I think are excellent but play(ed) in the underground and are less well known: Mikal Cronin (plays with Ty Segall and others) Bob Weston (played with Steve Albini in Shellac) Robert Been (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) Tommy Stinson (The...

With ultra hi on, have you experimented with the tweeter switch on your cab (if you have such a switch)?

    New Ampeg Venture Series

@Badji I own both a V7 and V12 and they are always silent as far as background noise. Guessing you got a bad unit or there is a source of interference in your vicinity. Does it make that noise after trying it in another area?

I don't see that post. If this is the correct account, the last posts were from 2+ weeks ago: https://www.instagram.com/serek_basses/

The Mike Lull Club Part 4

The Bass Shop in Seattle often has lots of Lulls in stock, and there are a few P4s there now IIRC.

    Searching a snappy, modern Pbass

I came here to write this. I've owned 4 Sandbergs and recently sold a VS4 Active that would have fit your needs probably. Another tip is to use a pick if you want bright and articulate.

Importance of rig size at low volumes? Is bigger always just better even if loudness isn’t needed?

It seems to be true for me, with the very important caveat that I have one set of comparisons: Ampeg Venture V12 into Venture 410 sounds noticeably better to me than Venture V7 into Venture 210. Same instruments, same settings (though sometimes also fiddling with settings a bit) and same room...
