New Ampeg Venture Series

Regard the pop sound on your V7 Ultra Lo switch, all my cheapo RB112 also has this issue but not loud. Contact cleaner do help, but just for a while and the pop return again. Been claim 2 new preamp board , problem no solve.
I also meet the scratching noise on SGT Grit pot while turning the knob. 1 of the new preamp board still has same issue.

I hate that , but i love this cheapo combo sound pretty much.
Not a switch or pot issue, that’s why spraying with “miracle cure-all spray” doesn’t solve the problem. It might recreate a bigger problem down the road however,

Debating getting the V7 and pairing it with the VB410… haven’t seen that combo too much.

I know due to the wattage/ohm difference it’s a bit mismatched

I wonder why they didn't make the VB410 and VB212 4ohm cabs instead of 8ohm? I guess they figured it would be easier for those that would make stacks, but in this day and age of bassists looking for lightweight rigs, seems maybe doing the 4ohm cabs for those would have helped them sell better. Who knows? My VB88 is 4ohm but I guess no one would be stacking a mini fridge.

I have a rather stupid addition: just found out the Ultra Lo switch is a three way switch. This I found out after a frustrating afternoon in a barn where I could not seem to keep with the rest. The switch must have been errr switched to another setting (let's call it the no-lo setting), losing some necessary bottom end.

I blame the too snug gigbag and certainly not myself for never reading manuals.

I got a very good amplified acoustic double bass sound recently from my V7 into an SVT210AV cab with the Ultra Lo Cut engaged. Gage Lifeline pickup straight to V7, Ultra Lo Cut, able to then boost Bass knob to give the sound body without getting muddy. Clearer sounding than just rolling back the Bass without the Ultra Lo Cut engaged.

The carry bag is pretty snug, but I haven’t noticed it changing settings on me. I do take care to ease the V7 in and out and mind the knobs and switches as I do. I always have the front end facing me, so it’s oriented up as I carry the bag.

Even if -3dB at 27.5 Hz is unlikely an accurate and truthful value, IF it is at all comparable with the specs stated for the old SVT 410HLF, it predicts a pretty damn fat low end for the Venture 410.
A cab that goes that low is not necessarily *fat*, like the 410HLF.
I haven't heard the 410, but I have the 88 and its lows are very clear.
If you *like* fat, eq might still get you there, but eqing can't get you the clarity of the 88 (and probably the 410) from the 410HLF (I owned one in the past). I like clear and super intelligible lows, all the way down. Totally happy with the 88.
Sorry if I misunderstood you.

I tried the 212, 410 and 88 cabs the other day. The 212 and 410 sounded boxy and uninteresting. The 88 sounded amazing. Full and deep, even just with the V3 head sitting on top. Easily the best one of the three.

I’ve never had another Ampeg cab to compare to, but the 88 sounds really good. It’ll bump more than you think it would.

Right you are. I should maybe have phrased it differently. If that spec is accurate enough that the low end extension is in the same ballpark as the 410HLF, the cab has potential to dish out fat bass and sub-bass, possibly requiring some EQ to do so. The spec does not indicate what the rest of the spectrum and thus the overall tonal balance of the cab is like.

And true, the 410HLF is not the most versatile of cabs. But if I had to do a reggae gig without PA support, it is the cab I'd drag to the venue :D

To the owners of Venture Heads :
Have you noticed if the fan is constantly running on yours ? Since I got my Venture V3, I haven't seen the fan running yet, and yet today it's hot, I played loudly.....but nothing.
V7 owner. Notice no fan activity, but never stopped to try to hear/notice either. Not sure if that means quiet, or didn’t activate. 🤷🏻 The amp seems to work fine regardless.

Outdoor wedding gig tomorrow, will try to remember to observe for fan activity.

Wondering why GC used has so many VB 410 cabs for sale. Are people returning them or trading them in. Looks to be great cab. Would love to try one out.
My guess is that a lot of V12 owners who have been playing through VB410 cabs want to trade for the newer VB 88.

I like the V7 VB410 combination myself.

Different topic, what settings are people using on the V7s? I have the B15 circuit on pretty much always, tone controls flat or nearly. Ultra low stays in middle position, no compression, no ultra high.

One guy told me my DI signal was “terrible” but I gave it to him with the 25db pad engaged, inadvertently. Pre, not post.

Have had 2 outdoor wedding gigs since the question was raised. Sorry I keep forgetting to check for the fan, but suffice to say I don’t notice it at all, if it’s running at all. Another pair of outdoor gigs this weekend, will try to notice this time!
