Tone Hammer 500. The V7 probably has a wider availability of tones but what the TH 500 does...it does better than the others...which I guess is trying to sound like an old Ampeg?

Should be great for metal and hardcore. But people are picky, so I don't know if that general statement will apply to you. No idea about ex-yu-rock, but i looked it up and can't think why it would require anything special. What do you think might make ex-yu-rock bass amplification needs unique?I hear it wouldnt be as good for metal and hardcore, your opinions? and do you know about ex-yu-rock because that is my fav genre and i really want good amp for that
thanks
I sold my TH 500 and SL 210 after trying the V7 and V 210. The Aguilar stuff is really good; don't get me wrong. I just like the warmth of the Venture equipment, and as a bonus it is easier to dial in. But...YMMV of course and it's great to have so many excellent choices.Tone Hammer 500. sooooo v7?V7 is definitely easier to dial in. Lugan is correct. V7 probably a safer choice for more selection of sounds for different musical styles than TH
thanksThe V series amps can cover any genre. I play hardcore/punk mainly but also play some jazz and funk and it works in all these scenarios.
thanks
another qouestion should i go all in for v12 or get v7, good headphones and have more money t o spare later on on pedals
thanksI mean that comes down to what you need. Realistically 700 watts (if you're running a 4 ohm cab configuration) will be more than enough. Even 350 watts at 8 ohms is going to be pretty loud. I have the V12 personally, but I would never actually need the full 1200 watts it puts out. I would have gone for the V7 if I hadn't gotten a good deal on a used V12.
Ashdown stuff is always cool, but the V7 is worth the wait.So I've got the funds covered and I have been drooling all over the internet for bass heads to pair with my two VB-210 cabs. The V7 is an option, but I can also get my hands on an Ashdown ABM600 Evo IV or a Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 600. V4-B is also still an option. Completely different animals all but I'm not in a hurry so I guess I'll check out the entire zoo.
Unfortunately the V7 seems to be out of stock in my area for a while so I won't be able to try that one out for a while. I go from light jazz on a very polite semihollow fretless to serious metal on an active very aggressive sounding bass and the middle ground is covered by a passive PJ so I'm going to need some versatility. Crowd size varies from a dozen including the bartenders to maybe a couple of hundred souls but then a PA-system is present. No need to melt faces.
I'm growing increasingly happy with this setup. I got to take it out for a ride a couple of times now with two different bands and the PF-500 is really starting to grow on me even more. No cutouts or problems whatsoever. Great punchy tones in the mix and such, especially once I learned how to fidget more effectively with the mids.Nice! Seems like this would be one of the best possibilities with this product line. For everyone who wanted the old 210AV vertical stack to work but needed it to have more oomph, handle more power… How about it?
What should really be sick is 3 of the V210’s stacked in horizontal mode, modular 610… why oh why not even a 2.67 ohm option on the new heads!? Or is the vertical 2x stack enough to quell that 3-cab impulse?
What are you finding needs addressing with the mids? Were you using the cabs in the vertical stack each time? Have you compared that to stacking horizontal in the band context?I'm growing increasingly happy with this setup. The cabs stand their ground, period. It's great to be able to lift one in each hand and mozy on down to my car whilst still conversing with the drummer lugging all of his heavy stuff, which I was able to keep up with.
About the 610-setup: I personally do not crave to add another cab, though it would look great probably. In case I wanted to be backed by a fridge I would then go to two 410s from this line. Those are also bordeline luggable for me still, probably.
I stacked both horizontally and vertically and found no difference in volume or tone as I play 5-10 meters away from my cabs so the sound has space to fan out. This way I can hear everybody in the band. Possibly there is a perceivable difference at closer range. What are you finding needs addressing with the mids?
