The Bass Shop in Seattle often has lots of Lulls in stock, and there are a few P4s there now IIRC.

Cool. I'd say be patient. Usually owners don't know what year their Lulls are, because there is no lookup system, other than emailing Spencer. And most people are reluctant in including the serial number in their ads. Therefore this info is not available in for sale ads, making it hard to search for specific eras. Mike also standardized several things really early, so it's rare that you can look at a picture of a Lull bass and accurately guess the era it was built. It will be a fun game of hunting... finding a suspect, asking for more info from the seller, that sort of thing.
Thanks for more good info guys. I guess I should add some context. I posted those two Lull 5's on the previous page. They are both from 2005. I have a newer J4, but I'm thinking about trading/selling it for a P4. I'd probably list a few other basses since I'm all in on the Lull P5. There are times when I need different basses, so having the J5 and picking up a P4 would cover almost everything I need.
I'm not a 'collector' at all. In that, I wouldn't purchase a bass just because of when or where it's made. It would have to be something that I have a need for. If I were to move forward with this, I would give weight to a bass from the same era. Not because they are better. I just think it's cool to have 3 main players from the same era. I know there is more to basses than 'being cool' but I thought I'd start there first.
I am open to newer Lull basses. And I'm not even sure I'm going to go in this direction at all. But, it's worth looking into.

I own a Lull P4, natural/maple. It's my #1 P bass (I also have a Nordy) for country/americana. It has a 4 digit SN, I don't know how old it is, because I am not original owner. It's a fantastic instrument. Everything about it I just love. Good luck with your search (and no, you can't have mine).
I'd like to ask you about why a P4 if you already have a P5. I often think about it myself, but I can't justify it. Logically, there's nothing that a P4 can do that a P5 can't. But I still want one.

Does anyone recognize this bass? I recently picked it up from The Bass Shop in Seattle. It's magnificent! But I have questions. The Bass Shop told me it came from someone in Texas. The serial number is 282. I called the Lull shop and they have no records about it. Their historical list of serial numbers skips this one.
If you are the former owner out if you know who is, I'd sure appreciate if you could answer some questions for me.

It's at the Lull shop right now getting Luminlay side dots installed. I've played one gig with it, so far. It was glorious!
