1966 Bassman amp. Which cab for home use?

A vintage Fender 2-12 Bassman cabinet would obviously work nicely. I have built a Mojotone replica with Weber 12” bass speakers, and they sound great with a vintage Bassman amp.

Beatles White Album Period Analysis - An Amateur Identifying the Basses, Track by Track

Nicely done. I seem to recall pictures of George playing a right-hand Jazz Bass in the studio during that era. Did that come up in any of your research?

    HELP!!!

If you are playing in a venue that requires more volume than your rig will produce, won’t you be running through the P.A.anyway?

Wireless head phones for "in-ear" monitors; anyone using that?

They’re pricey, but custom made ear pieces would likely solve the problem. They are custom molded to fit your ear canals.

    Vocal Mic insight

I have not used the Sennheiser or the Earthworks Microphones, but I have experience with cardioid vs. super cardioid mics. I have found a significant difference in the feedback potential of those two types, with the super cardioid mics causing less feedback. That’s a good thing. On the other...

On-Stage Harmonic Interference/”Beating”; Hearing Correct Notes as Incorrect Notes

I’ve had that issue occasionally with amps and wedges (no IEMs)but only on certain songs. Not only did the bass sound off key, I had a terrible time singing in key. We finally realized it was happening on songs where the guitarist was using a lot of distortion and playing heavily on the low (E...

    Trumpets! New or used?

I’m a longtime trumpet player, and BassBrass is pointing you in the right direction. As he noted, a problem with older trumpets is the cost of refurbishment. A trumpet in the hands of a middle or high school student can take a real beating and may need repair work. Any work on the valves is...

    Does 'Dirty Electricity' Exist?

I’ve had this happen with digital power amps. I’m no electronics guru, but I’m told that it’s a low voltage issue. I’ve never had it happen with conventional (i.e., not digital) amp.

    short scale, thin neck suggestions

Fender Mustang Bass meets all your criteria.

Who inspired you to play bass?

Paul McCartney, after seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964.

Can I use a vintage tube head as a pre-amp?

I used a blackface Bassman head into a modern Fender 6-10 cabinet for several years. If I’m playing a venue that rig won’t fill up, I’m going to be in the PA anyway.

Jimi & Billy - Gypsies - name this rig Fillmore

It’s possible that the Twin was powering one of the Guild cabinets, rather than its own 2-12s. The Twin has the same output as one of the Showman amps.

Fender bassman rig getting the most out of my basses?

I have a Bassman 800 and a Fender 6-10 neo cab, playing Fender basses (Jazz, Precision and Mustang PJ)through it. I’ve never played Darkglass rig. I very much like the 800/6-10 combination. If I have a gig that is too small to justify that rig, I take a tweed TV Bassman, which is very...

    Fat Jimmy speakers?

I’ve got the same rig, but with two 2-12 cabs. I put Webers in them. I called Weber and told them what I was looking for, and I specified that I was going to play bass through it. The recommended a particular model and I bought four of them. They sound great with bass, and I’ve had zero problems...
