    Bass guitar through a PA

I'd stick with your rig over the PA. I had to go through a PA that already had two vocals and a violin with effects going into it, and my sound was awful from being mixed in with all of that. That sound guy sounds like he needs a few physics lessons!

really, how to be a better musician?

I felt similar to what you're feeling now. Then my guitarist gave me "The Music Lesson" by Victor Wooten. If you can find it, I highly reccomend it, it has great advice about playing music. In terms of what you're doing now, the transcribing will DEFINITELY help, and playing with people...

    Gibson EB-3

Sorry KrisH, I'm still a bit lost. I have an Epiphone SG at home with two pickups, four knobs and a varitone knob. Would that actually be an EB-3?

    Gibson EB-3

I apologise in advance for my ignorance here, but from looking at the picture of an EB-3, I couldn't tell the difference between that and an SG. Would somebody be able to fill me in on what I'm missing here please? :help:

    Worst Live Performance?

System of a Down at the 2005 Big Day Out in Sydney. I was so psyched to see them, and then they came out and played the most lacklustre set I've ever seen. Didn't talk to the crowd, sound was ok, not great, and just... bleh.

the right tone for your band?

I was playing an old Epiphone SG in my band, and after we recorded an EP I found I hated the sound I had. I went out and bought a Fender Jazz 70's model and a new amp to go with it so I could get a nicer, more defined and clear sound. The band noticed immediately how much better it was! It...

I need some high end help please!

I play a Fender Jazz 70's reissue through a Markbass combo 1x12 amp, both brand new. At practice with my band, I kept noticing that I had plenty of sound with the low end, playing low E up to the B. However, when I started playing the higher three strings, the level dropped so I could barely...

First Gig as a Bass Teacher

In the first lesson my teacher taught me the standard tuning, the major and minor scale and one song (My Girl). Told me to practice playing them every day, and from there went to pentatonics and explanations of the triads and basic music theory over the next few weeks. Worked pretty well I thought!

First time you picked up a bass...

When I was 17, a friend of mine at school had started playing the guitar and wanted to start a band. I said I'd sing for his new Zeppelin wannabe group, having had some training when I was younger. However, the guy he got in to play bass for us decided he was too lazy to learn and said that he'd...

Who else here uses 12s and 15's?

I recently tried out a few amps I wanted. I found that the 112 I now own gave a much nicer sound than the same brands 210. I'm a big fan of 12's after that.

The Fender Jazz Bass Club pt 2

I just bought a new Vintage Jazz bass myself after months of dreaming about it. It didn't disappoint either! I'll post pics when I can, but it's a Jazz, so I'm sure you have a rough idea already :D If there are still numbers being given, could I have one please?

Tell us something unusual about your band

The band I'm in is called The Naked Parade. It was formed when I was playing a session for a pantomime in this dingy university theatre. I didn't know any of them at that stage, but one night after the show five of us stuck around and jammed until 2 am while eating all the chocolate from the...
