Whenever you're ready... I'm patient. It's just good to know something like this is available at all for a reasonable price. I'm not particularly keen on the spanner hook solution.

Upgrade the pickups on your current bass, or do whatever you gotta do to make it aces, then save a little more for a better bass. Because if you buy another bass first, you won't fix the old one, and you'll just have a cheap bass, and a cheap busted bass... This way you'll have a good, working...

Yep... JPJ said he always used flats on his Jazz Bass, but used rounds on the Alembic, because he felt that flats would "hold that bass back too much".

Polyurethane has UV resistive properties. That's part of the reason why the automotive industry switched from nitro to poly in the '50s. The color may change a little over time, but it will never develop the amber patina of nitro.

I'm a sucker for block inlays. I like pearloid on Rosewood, and black on Maple, but I don't care for pearloid on Maple. Binding is nice, but it's not a deal-breaker if the neck is not bound. I always thought a bound neck on an otherwise unbound guitar looked kinda funny (like on an SG), but...

That bass looks great! I'm a sucker for Lake Placid Blue, though I don't own a single bass or guitar in that color. :( I like tort on some finishes, but LPB is not one of them. You made the right decision.
