    List your favorite Jamerson tracks

I just noticed that I don't have almost any Motown music in my collection. Used to listen to a lot of Motown on the oldies station before they changed their format to All Bieber All The Time. Time to fix this oversight... What are your favorite tracks featuring James Jamerson that I should...

Offal / organ meat - Yum? Or no?

Yes, entrails are definitely an acquired taste. I would say you have to had your mom make you eat them as a kid to be able to stomach them (no pun intended) as an adult. Also, entrails are usually poor people's food. Most of the time, they need a lot of work before they are edible. Definitely...

Offal / organ meat - Yum? Or no?

I'm from Argentina, I ate lots of the stuff growing up. Not easy to find now that I'm living in the US. I like all entrails in in general, except for the brains -- my mom used to cook them a lot; I guess because they were cheap. Brains and liver are the 2 on that list that can be cooked without...

The different tonewoods and their sounds

Carl Thompson's opinion may be relevant here (he is a jazz bassist as well as luthier): Invalid Link Removed Money quote: . I can tell what is going to change the sound of a bass real quick though. Aaron: Practice? Carl: "Player will change the sound more than [...] finishes and wood. Change...

    Most memorable bass riff ever

Another one bites the dust and Under Pressure by Queen. Superfreak by Rick James (sampled by MC Hammer for U Can't Touch This)

More proof Rolling Stone Magazine knows nothing about music

List doesn't include "Oh No You Didn't" ==> instant disqualification. Oh, and "Paparazzi" is better than "Bad Romance".

Touch up the body on a rare bass

Another vote for leaving the finish alone. Maybe stick some protective plastic film like some flamenco guitars have, to prevent further buckle damage? PS: the bass looks gorgeous by the way :)

What is the evilest or more diabolic music you have ever heard?

That has to be "Mandy you're a fine girl" -- or maybe "If you're going to San Francisco". Brrrr...

wax under the poly? (Affinity content)

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try scrapping what's scrapable, and then will sand it off if possible. I thought my work was done once the paint was removed, silly me... :P

Fouled up a brand new Warmoth Body

Are you sure there is a chip? Cause I don't see any chips... That's a beautiful body, good luck with the build!

wax under the poly? (Affinity content)

I stripped the paint of my old (circa 2000-2001) Affinity "P" with a paint scraper and noticed that the body is covered with a waxy/soapy substance underneath. Any idea of what this may be? Would it be hazardous to sand off? Also, what would be a good finish to apply on top of this mystery...

    Learning without lessons?

I'm kind of in the same boat -- no time for lessons at the moment. Did take some lessons some years ago, however. Currently going through the 3-in-1 Hal Leonard method book and learning to read music, where the notes are in the fretboard, etc. In my opinion, learning from a book can be helpful...
