    2023 Bass Acquisition Round Up

2023 was the first year in many that I haven't succumbed to GAS in any way.

    NBD - G&L M2000

The M2K is such an under appreciated bass and so different from the L2K. The underwound MFD pickups combined with the 18v preamp, boost/cut EQ, blend and master volume give it a unique voice.

Did it ever occur to anyone - thinking Fender Bass evolution...

I also would think that the market/interest in guitar over bass during that time period is the main reason. It does occur to me that this may be due in part to the amplification of, or lack of, the time period. The Bassman amps were in many regards guitar amps in both voicing and power until the...

Class D amp with the most slam/punch

I can't speak to other class D amps but my Darkglass Microtubes 900v2 atop a pair of Fender Bassman 410neo cabs is the punchiest rig I've ever experienced.

i couldn't resist (SX short scale jazz on the way)

Nice bass! I Picked up an SX short scale JB for my oldest child years ago and was more than impressed by it. It's now been through two more budding musicians and is no worse for wear. I'll pick it up once a year or so and am reminded how well it plays and get an itch to upgrade the pups and pots...

    410 HLF w/ Bassman 300 Pro?

Being a bit of a Bassman Pro fanboy, I would go with a Bassman 410neo cab. It's wide enough (26") for your 300 Pro, has classic aesthetics, comparatively lite weight and was designed to pair with the Super Bassman 300 (& 100T).

What current basses will be the next classics?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Reverend become future classics

The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

I'm fortunate enough to have a 100T and a pair of Bassman 410neo cabs. You are quite correct that if you are mainly interested power tube breakup, which I initially was, then the 100T and a 410 is perfect. If you decide you would like more clean headroom a second 410 will get you there. I also...

The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

I have both the 100T & SB300. To me, I don't find any noticeable affect of the bias settings on either. When I got the 100T I would have my wife change the setting and try to guess which was selected and was wrong as often as right. I leave them both at Normal.

G&L L-2000 and L-2500 users : what other basses do you use?

I like to switch between my L2K with rounds and an L-1505 with flats. Similar feel but way different tone.

    Fender ABG Club

Sweet club right here! Love my Kingman, I've played "better" ABG's (louder, fuller, more expensive) but have never enjoyed one more. Mine is a V1 with the Presys+ and a K&K Pure Bass under saddle pickup. I enjoy very light low tension Roto FM66 strings on the Kingman, especially once they've...
