Yes, those are nice and dark, it's the ones that are just a bit darker than "normal" maple that I'm not keen on.

It is hard to tell by picture when buying online
This is same Burnt Apple as mine and Fingerboard is much Darker in person(with mine) unless its random

It's the SBMM roasted maple fretboards that I can't appreciate. Dark brown fingerboard and black dots looking like a burnt chocolate-chip cookie.

I consider myself a reasonable man but tortoishell on a MM is a no no for me. I've often looked at the beautiful 20th Anniversary SR but ultimately black or white are my instinctive choices.
I like tortoise on some EBMM instruments. IMO, it has to be a rosewood board, Classic Stingray and not be natural or sunburst. I think it looks awesome on solid colored Classics and a limited number of other Stingrays.
That stingray you posted looks like it has a giant, jelly guitar pick for a pickguard.

The roasted neck/fretboard on my Special is dark enough that it's really hard to see the black dots from more than a few feet away. Both white and black look amazing. So hard to pick but white might just have the edge. Reminds me of the 76 retro. I love the white matching the white nut.
This. Absent the pick guard, the StingRay takes on a more generic bass appearance. My opinion. YMMV.
plus seeing empty holes is just an absolute no in my book

That's a good point regarding the white nut. I'm not sure when black nuts came along but I think bone was the original material used commonly with plastics mimicking it later on, so I'm okay with being a traditionalist. Thinking about it, all four of my MM basses now have white nuts and black pickguards; it must be a subconscious bias.

So… anyone else noticing that only pastel colors and store special colors are on retail websites now? Just checked Sweetwater, Guitar Center, and Zzounds. If you search for StingRay Special 4 in their search bars, there’s next to nothing returning. I wonder if they’re getting ready announce new colors?
To give some additional context - you can see the old colors on Sweetwater if you open a SKU and scroll down to where they list everything out, but looks like everything is back ordered. There are a couple colors in Zzounds, but they are the last ones in stock and everything else is missing.

Clear would be AWESOME on that bass!
Of course, the other colors ain't bad by along shot.
