Fender ABG Club
Been trying to 'round up' Fender ABG owners to tell about their experiences, loves and not so much loves with their Fender ABG's.
Mine, a Fender Kingman v2 purchased in 2019:
It replaced my problematic Boulder Creek ABG after its piezo died and the company stopped taking my (many) calls.
Since then I also bought a Breedlove ABG but, cheaply constructed in comparison though it may be, I still prefer playing the Kingman. My current playing situation in two acoustic-centric groups, one jazz manouche and one Americana, has me playing the Kingman almost full time. I know that both would probably prefer that I bring the double bass but until it gets a few more scuffs and bumps it's staying where it is.

It is so refreshing to see someone who plays a DB and an EUB and also gigs with an ABG.

My Kingman purchased from ebay in 2015-ish? I think it was a return of some kind.
I keep it in a stand in my dining room and it gets played almost everyday.
Would anyone have a suggestion as to an upgrade for the tuners that is a direct fit?

Well that’s cool! The EMG would solve the grounding problem that the Lace USAB has, being active.
This might be a project for my BG32.
I find it really interesting that the Ferrington was the inspiration! I would have assumed that they sounded like toys.

Sweet. I love my Kingman, except it has the earlier Presys and not the Presys+ so no notch filter which is a godsend for feedback. Most peeps don't realize that there's actually two versions of the first Kingman V1 34" before the later smaller 30.3" Kingman V2. The bridge and the Fishman preamp are different on both of the V1's.
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing maybe tuners that would fit a Jazz bass would fit this?

I think that the Kingman V1 is quite underrated. I appreciate the sound generated from the dreadnought sized body.

Sweet club right here! Love my Kingman, I've played "better" ABG's (louder, fuller, more expensive) but have never enjoyed one more. Mine is a V1 with the Presys+ and a K&K Pure Bass under saddle pickup. I enjoy very light low tension Roto FM66 strings on the Kingman, especially once they've lost some zing.
