Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

I don't think the WD ones will fit, the screw holes will be out of alignment. I used these, from a German ebay shop: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MM-Style-Bass-Tuners-Mechaniken-1-links-schwarz-/400295953811?pt=Allgemeines_Musikinstrumente_Zubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item5d337f8593 Lined up perfectly...

Squier vintage modified club, part 2

I know the one you mean. I intend to copy its use of Strat-style knobs on my VM Jazz as soon as finances allow... Never been sure about white binding on a maple neck :hmm:

Maximum man-points for you. I'm currently using D'Addario superlight flatwounds, so... none for me.

Looking fine! Really 'lifts' the instrument aesthetically. I quite like the red string wrap against the black bridge - it's a tricky little detail that can spoil our hard work. Not convinced by the blue on mine...

I've left the control plate alone also; it just came out looking a little strange in this photo (but it was my third attempt to take a decent one to post and I had insufficient patience left to do a fourth). A black one would overdo it, I think, and I like the 'island' of all chrome. Yes...

Squier vintage modified club, part 2

I've been 'blacking out' my VM Jazz over the last month or two and yesterday the project was finally completed. Here's the finished article. The changes are all purely aesthetic, but it just looks so much more 'right' now, most especially the machineheads. All done for less than £100 and...

The new Wilkinson bridge. Another drop-in part; installed with nothing more than a couple of screwdrivers.

Good news everyone, I've found a cheap black machinehead for the Vintage Modified Jazz. It's 100% drop-in; as you can see, it's identical to the stock ones. Screw holes lined up perfectly. Only installed it this afternoon but initial impressions are good, the tuning seemed very...

This P Bass is so worth $3000...

My Squier Jazz cost less than a tenth of that and for that they covered up the wiring. It looks like an aftermarket neck as well, since it has neither logo on the front nor skunk strip on the back. All in all, I call into question the word "Professional"

My first bass: Since I'm still pretty much a beginner it's also my only bass. For now. When I've accumulated a bit more savvy I may set about modifying it... Good bass - a friend of mine who's much more of an experienced/talented musician than I borrowed it and loved it. Compares well...

    New Fender series: MODERN PLAYER

I remember reading reviews of the old Squier tele bass that said the tone wasn't great, partly due to the single humbucker placed slap-bang behind the neck. This one is the same, with a second pickup slap-bang in front of the bridge. So is this a case of looks-over-sound design? I'm not an...

    Bass for beginner

Alright man, I'm also a beginner. My instrument is a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass and I certainly think it's all the bass I need for learning with. It's well-made and finished, the sound is good (you can experiment with several different tones even through a little practise amp) and it's a...

    Squier website

In my head that means that I can now think of myself as a Fender owner (I have a Squier Jazz). *Not that I'm at all ashamed of the Squier logo on the headstock.

    Bass Player or Bassist?

I've never heard anyone say "guitar-player"; it's always "guitarist". Since "bassist" has an equivalency with that it seems, to me at least, the better term. It doesn't have the ring of "guitarist" and there's quite a few Ss to get your teeth around but, on the other hand, it's quicker to say...
