Nut question, looking at heavy gauge strings.

I'm looking at beefing up my strings from 45 - 105 to GHS Boomers at 50 - 115. Am I going to have to modify the nut to do that on my Schecter Stiletto 4? I'm doing it because I want to down tune to C standard. Thanks!

C standard tuning - new bass player.

Hey there, I am new to the bass. I took lessons a long time ago, but I remember nothing, and am starting from scratch. Anyway, I have noticed that in the style of music I love the most, namely doom/sludge/stoner metal, alternate tunings abound, and C standard tuning is popular, and I like the...

    Retailer vs Direct from Manufacturer

I was looking at Schecter's website and saw that you can buy direct from them and that their return policy is more or less the same as Sweetwater's or Musician's friend. I think MF gives you 45 days instead of 30 but there are still restocking and shipping and handling fees for returns. Is there...

How long did it take you to learn just the major scales in every key?

It took me two weeks to learn to play major and minor scales in all 12 keys on 1, 2, 3 and 4 strings. I play through them daily as the first part of my practice routine. It's a lot easier than it might sound, it's just a few patterns.

    Learning to Read...

I am learning to read using Sight Reading Factory. Google it, it's a website based sight reading program that creates a unique page to sight read every time you click for a new exercise and they are musical enough to be interesting to play. It covers a huge amount of skill levels. You can try it...

Peavey Cirrus??? Where did it go?

Is Peavey still producing the Cirrus in 2020? All I'm finding are used listings. I am very interested in it in new condition.

    Need Help Understanding LH Positions

I typically use 3 I think but I have big hands so I don't think 4 would be a problem. We haven't really solidified anything just yet in that regard.

    Need Help Understanding LH Positions

I am learning the Bach Invention #4. It doesn't look that hard on paper but since most of the notes I can read are in open position, I'm having trouble playing the 5th and 7th position sections. I'm sure he will explain more at our lesson, it's just very slow-going right now.

    Need Help Understanding LH Positions

I was assigned a Bach piece to play and was told that certain sections should be in open, 5th or 7th position. I am only a few lessons into my training and I don't really understand yet what these mean and most of my fretboard understanding is in the open position. How should I approach this? My...

    What's your practice routine?

For those of you who keep a structured practice routine, what does it look like? Is there a set of fundamentals that you review daily or regularly to stay sharp on them? Are you usually busy covering gig material? How long do you practice? Thanks for your input, I'm looking forward to seeing how...

Clunky and barely intelligible. I'm working on it. :/

2019 Schecter Riot 5 String Spacing?

If anyone out there can help, I would like to know what it is. The only thing I know, if it helps, is that the nut is 1.771" which I believe is 45mm. Here's a link: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Riot5BARB--schecter-riot-5-bass-aurora-burst
