I just ordered one of these (black/tortoise/lefty). Planning on using it as a backup bass. It's not in stock yet, so I'm assuming it's a 2017 model. Hope It's good. The plan is to immediately take it to my setup guy.

im using the carvin brx10.2NEO cab with my BX500 and it sounds fantastic

i got an '09 american standard P bass a while back and i'll pit it up against ANY of the roadworn or vintage basses. i was surprised at how great it is. i know it's not a J bass but just chiming in about the american standards, ('08-present american standards that is)

just got mine about a week ago. took a while to get my tone dialed in. but this thing sounds great. very powerful. going to try it out at practice tomorrow. but it sounds great at home. i can tell im going to get a lot of "hey can you turn that down a bit" comments tomorrow. lol

i have done that same thing in the past. that is why i always have my guitar put away in my closet with my guitar amp. sometimes i'll write a riff on bass and then try to write guitar to it. i dont do it that often. but it's worth keeping the guitar around for it. DONT SELL YOUR STUFF NEXT TIME...

i bought my '09 fender MIA P bass without having played it because im left handed, i called every music store within 50 miles and not one store had a lefty MIA fender P. i was really paranoid too because i was too much money to spend and end up with a bad bass. so when i got it, it played nice...

i feel the same way. i cant deal with the spacing on the j basses up by the nut. seems waaay too close together

a series 10 bass i used to have. i remember it played really well. everyone said series 10 sucked. but i liked that bass

it's funny this thread came up. at practice i play out of a 70's ampeg svt with an 8/10 ampeg cab. supposed to be the "perfect" sound for my p bass. it does sound good BUT here's the kicker....so the ampeg isn't mine. it's belongs to the guy that owns the studio so the amp i had i didn't think...

is it just me or does that neck look over bowed?

are there any ill effects from adding a shim in the neck pocket?
