When does a bass upgrade translate to a performance upgrade?

Changes in ergonomic factors like scale length, string spacing, radius, etc. could all result in something being easier for you to play and thus "increase performance". But it is probably a good idea to play as many as you can to get an idea of what parameters in those areas work well for you...

    The term ’vintage’?

I can't tell if the original poster is objecting to the fact that Fender offers guitars the purport to be reissues of classics or if he just objects to the naming/branding of such? Either way I don't think I can get on board with the critique.

Greenboy Designs Official Club - Part 3: Loud, Light and Low!

Is this for getting to the gig or for some really over the top car audio reinforcement?

Why is playing with a pick so frowned upon?

I am much more likely to look down on a player who refuses to put in time learning more than one technique and disparages those they don't handle. Pick playing is my weakest technique but I enjoy the sound and have nothing but respect for those who are masters of it. Horses for courses.

Be wary of this ebay seller...

If this is a $1k bass, why weren't opportunistic buyers coming out of the woodwork to reap that 100% profit on the flip? If it is worth what FHM says, easy money right? It seems to me that the market considers this to be a roughly $460-610 bass.

Be wary of this ebay seller...

Just because you can get away with something immoral does not make it moral. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with warning the public. In the process we learned about several TB members to be wary of. Thanks OP.

Man I bet that is one heavy beast for load in/out.

I have to post this. eBay seller that insults you...

I think the OP's strategy was just a bit off. There may be circumstances where a low opening offer makes strategic sense. But if you are trying to persuade the seller to change course and part out, I would think you need to put out a number that gets him thinking that is a tempting option...

Someone needs to play matchmaker with the above two craigslisters. Sounds like a perfect match.

CITES - What every bass player should know

And what would the numbers be if the question instead was phrased "should people be free to carry the remains of endangered species across the US boarder"? Maybe include a picture of a dead polar bear cub at the top of the page to ensure the response is just as influenced with bias as your version.

Fender - a new company model that would work

You have to remember that the vast bulk of the market is lower end sales to first time beginners. Sure, some of those folks may shop the eBay. But most are going to wind up with a new squier/fender destined to spend the next thirty years in the attic of the kid's parents. It is a constantly...

    Squier body question

Squirrel bodies? Is this a bass question or a taxidermy question?

Fender - a new company model that would work

Exactly. In the online sales paradigm, the instrument business has evolved into, all these companies really bring to the table is warehouse fulfillment and web development. Why put up with their crap and give up that margin?

Fender - a new company model that would work

I don't think the variations and options are an issue at all. Precisely the opposite. Fender sees consumers moving to the big online web dealers in droves. Why are consumers buying there? Because those big online stores stock every one of those model variations, in every trim level and in...

    Avatar or Greenboy?

With a dave green cab you are paying less for brand name than about any other cab out there: nothing. Especially the fearfuls. There is essentially zero part of the cost associated with marketing, brand, etc. In fact you can paint any old name on there you want. Mine is unmarked. The high...
