How can you tell the difference between that PU and the millions of other jazz style PUs?

If your buying the MM, you need to change the preamp, it is just crap, real thin and "cheap" sounding. Buy the 75 RI, and buy a Sadowsky outboard preamp if you desire a more active sound.

So, how much does your seventies Fender Precision weigh? I'll start: 1975 model with maple neck. 4,8 kilograms.

Is this a problem us bass players just need to live with or is it something that people actually pay money to get fixed and/or return cabinets because of it? My brand new TC electronic RS212 have started to rattle when i play the low D on a 4 string. I have had this problem with a Ampeg combo...

With proper shielding the noise can be minimal. I'm using Fender japan vintage SC's and a Sadowsky preamp, no noise problems at normal settings.

The funny stuff is that it seems like these "special" basses whether it be a MIM, MIJ, SX etc is all over the place. Almost like they make 1 or 2 out of 2000 thats is crap.

Slab from 51-54, contour after that. Series prodution of the jazz was in 1960. The Telecaster bass is somewhat different. It has the mudbucker style pickup by the neck, and the pickguard has a different shape.

Ditto. Not sunburst tho'. Makes it an entirely new and much better bass. Even improves the passive tone.
