This is incorrect. Kind of. The inhabitants of the Americas who speak Latin-derived tongues also use a colloquialism - 'norteamericanos'. This usually refers to US citizens - not Mexicans or Guatemalans or anything else (except maybe Canadians).

I normally just lurk here for information but I had to comment on this mess. First post btw.

America is the United States of America, thus we are called Americans. Does that mean we have a copyright on the term America, no but it's pretty much accepted in common terms around the globe.

Mexico is actually the United States of Mexico but nobody seems to have a problem calling them Mexico or Mexicans.

Trust me, I may not play a geographer on TV but I am one in real life. :)

Hopefully this can put this to rest and we can get back to bass topics.

Well, I find "MIA" confusing. For the longest time, I thought it meant the bass was a Mia Hamm signature model. Why would anyone want that? She's a soccer player. Maybe she plays bass too, but is she any good? Is she relate to Stu Hamm? That guy can play, but why not name the bass after him instead?

MIU would equal "Made in Uganda"...and Fender will hopefully never stoop that low.

Edit: Sincere apologies to any Uganda activists out there. I didn't mean to infer that a bass made in Uganda would lack any quality...ok, maybe I did...deal with it :-)

Certainly not on this side of the border. It would never cross our minds to call ourselves "American".

"America" perhaps does refer to all of the North, Central, And South parts of the land mass but most people understand that "America" means the USA.

That's approximately the definition of trolling, sir. Saying something controversial in order to garner heated reactions, all to amuse yourself. It is also often associated with feigning some sort of emotional investment in support of the controversial position you take, again, for your own amusement.

"Do you have to troll to have some fun?" No.

However, if you were to ask, "Was I being a troll if I was just trying to have some fun?" the answer would be "Yes, absolutely."

Nonetheless, I'm reading, and responding, because I evidently hate myself and all of my brain cells. I will now throw my bass straight up in the air and allow it to hit me in the head.
