    Let's see those blue basses!

I've had this one 3 weeks and love it! I've owned a few of these 5H and 5HH Stingray Special 5's before and this one is indeed Special to me.. So good, and blue too!

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Back in the Club! I pulled the trigger on this one from Sweetwater. A few different single H and HH Specials have come and gone over the years, and I missed having one! I picked the one that looked like the G string has some wiggle room on the fretboard, and indeed it does. Took it for a spin at...

    New Ibanez Mode series

I took the 4-string shown a few posts back for a spin and here's my take.. EQ is very responsive, flawless fit and finish. Bass came with the action so low the strings were almost laying on the fretboard. I think this was the factory set up because the neck relief was right where it should be...

    New Ibanez Mode series

After much consideration, I'm giving this one a go! Nice wood grain, 8lb 14oz, so not too heavy, not too light! My main player is a Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass, passive, with Lollars and a rosewood board, so this should brighten things up a bit when I get my faux Marcus slap diddly funk going!

Rickenbacker Question - is this even real?

Bass Bonnedo Tone Comparison between Sadowsky Metroline and MX MJ-5 Basses

Cool! I wonder how close they feel? I have only played a JJ metro express 5 and it was pretty darn good, not terribly chunky like I expected, I'm not even sure why I expected that. I had one of the MJ Metrolines and it was excellent in every way.

    Sadowsky MetroLine 21MJ5 5-String

I found the Sadowsky neck more to my liking, no compound radius or rolled edges, which are both features that to me make the Fenders harder for me to play.

    Sadowsky MetroLine 21MJ5 5-String

Yes, I had one for about a month. Flawless fit and finish, excellent player, I had the blue one, looked great, liked how it hung on a strap plus it was just at 8lbs. 18mm spacing and slightly chunky neck was very comfy. At the end of the day though I seem to always gravitate to a Fender type...

NBD - Fender American Professional Classic

Nice bass! I too noticed how even it sounds and my sound guy immediately commented. I modded mine a bit!

Fender Mod Shop: no J neck on a P body????!!!!

I made my own! Fender American Professional Classic body, Fender Custom Shop 62 Relic Jazz neck, Badass II bridge Hipshot tuners and D-tuner and sparkle pickguard! Great sounding bass, and this is one of the best necks I’ve ever played. We won’t talk about cost.. but it’s as good as they come.

    "Tubey" preamp/DI without actual tubes

I have the Tech 21's SansAmp VT Bass DI on my board. I don't know how tubey it is but It will definitely get you heard. To me it kind of puts a point on my J or P bass when I need it. maybe its how I set it but with everything at 12 o'clock and the level at 1 o'clock, I blend the Character and...

Anyone else feel their Stingray Special neck is a bit unstable?

I bought a BFR 5 string with a maple neck (not roasted) as well from Sweetwater and the neck moved every single day. I'd adjust it and measure it and the next day it would be wonky again. After a few weeks I returned it, the Sales Engineer could not wrap his head around how this was a defect and...

Sadowsky Modern: Dialing in a Slap Tone

Love that color! Just to chime in- I played a Norm Stockton (import) at Bass Central and it killed. Played like butter, great B, and seemed like a number of very usable tones.

    Bobby Vega Interview

Yes, he is a monster player! In the late 90's a studio I was recording at had a MIM J bass with EMG's and it so so big and warm. I bought a set for my MIA J and it never ever sounded like that. I think they might have voiced them warmer at one point.. As it relates to him though, more proof that...
