if you have a Mac computer with garage band you can go direct in to the computer with an iMic and a 1/4" to headphone adapter. Sound is pretty good plus you can record yourself, which is always great to measure your progress.

i've played both a p and a warwick corvette (which is kinda like a jazz I guess) and the amp sounded great for both basses. I like an old school vibe and i was able to get that, but I can also dial in a modern jazz bass sound as well. very versatile amp, plenty loud for medium size clubs.
