Post Your '51-55 Precision or Tele-inspired bass

The Libertine - A naked one piece swamp ash body with birds-eye neck, Nordstrand Big Split and MM pickups wired V/V/T with a mini-toggle for parallel/single/series. One of just a handful of Grove solid bodies. Clear gloss nitro lacquer with just a little green abalone accent on the knobs and...

My most recent build...keeping it mostly traditional and simple. Very lightweight swamp ash, with a light BSB finish. Fralin split-coil and rear routed controls. 7lbs 4oz.

This 5'er build was Tele inspired. Chambered flame maple body, padouk top, Moses graphite neck with padouk blocks, Lace Alumitones and (fun to install) individual bridge pieces.

A recent build. The antique dynamite crates remain popular here in the Grove. Interestingly, this one is from when the dynamite company was located at 30 Rockefeller plaza in NY.

Dark Horse - Your build was first posted here mid 2012 (Dark HORSE 5-14-2012 "One of my builds I'm currently working on...." and 5-22-2012 "DYN-O-MITE"). In an earlier comment in this thread you thought it was about 4 years ago. For clarification - Grove Guitars creation (website and first...

NBD Grove 51 P5 Butterscotch Blond

Ken, The pickup is split (BEA)(DG). Nigel wanted a custom spacing which Lindy was not set up for, so I hand made the bobbins. The bridge is a 17mm which required a slightly smaller pole spacing to get the strings right over the poles. Lindy chose appropriate pole heights for our fingerboard...

    5 String Precision?

Here is a little different take on a 5 string Precision. This one was just finished an is en-route to Australia. Making this one unique: A one piece slab was re-sawn and the body chambered and re-joined and fully contoured. The pickup is a total custom: Fralin wound a 3+2 split coil on custom...

    Cincy/SW Ohio Fall 2013 GTG

Found the invite late and needed to take care of the kids this weekend. I'm posting to say I wish I was there and hope to remain on the circulation. I'm building basses 7 days a week trying to finish stuff before the holidays. I've got a couple new ones I would have loved to show off...

The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

I put this new rig next to my 1973 Ampeg V4-B and matching 1973 SVT 8x10 cabinet for about a month. I got to try both heads with either cabinet (no huge difference) and, I got to check playing a pair of 8x10's off my bucket list. I wasn't letting go of the Ampeg rig unless I was happy with the...

    SOLD New Custom J Bass

New J Bass I'm usually doing custom "build to order" drop tops or crate tops (see more at Link Removed or facebook Grove Guitars and Basses). I had some requests for J bass bodies and needed to develop templates. With a brand new WD Music body in hand I selected other medium / high end parts...

    Cincy GTG 2013

Thanks. I tried a few new things on that 5'er. Strangely, it never got a name. That reverse body we talked about a few months ago eventually went to Freekbass, he's touring it pretty heavy this year. I'll try to have something new and exciting for the next GTG.

    Cincy GTG 2013

I wanted to attend but had a prior commitment. My first post - I got an account to so I could be in the loop for future GTG's.
