I have one that I just picked up at GC, in the Satin Black. Its really a sharp color, and its a dark stain, that the Grain of the wood shows through. (please disregard the mess in the background, its my test station at work!)

    Fender price increases = Yucky

and prices going up during a recession is all to common. think about it. the more units you sell, the less you can charge for each, and still make the same profit. when you sell less units, such as during a recession, each one of the units must carry a higher percentage of the total profit. so...

    Fender price increases = Yucky

just so you know, fenders list price is approx 30% higher than anyone actually sells them for. for proof, look at any instrument on gutarcenter.com, or any other website that sells basses. there is a list price, and a selling price. the list is always MUCH higher.. its a sales tactic.

I just recieved a 2009 Fender Catolog. Fender increased their prices!!!

you do realize that NOBODY charges the MSRP, right? talk a look at Musiciansfriend, or guitarcenter.com.. you will see MSRP is always higher that the actual price. its just a marketing tactic.

    Replace and solder

    Aluminum Foil?????????

dude, go to your local friendly buffet restaurant, and ask them for like 2 feet of the aluminum foil that they have there, its like twice as thick, and will stand up much better to tearing.

Are you a "set and forget" or an "endlessly explore" kind of player?

on my amp, my settings NEVER seem to change (caveat: I use a passive volume pedal to set volume) But I am constantly changing settings on m basses, i.e. tweaking the tone knobs, etc. so I guess a little of both!

    Dummy question...active to passive mod

I don't know if you can get them all as one pre-made unit, but I changed over my Ibanez SG1200 from active to passive part by part, and it takes about 45 min, including looking up the wiring diagram from seymour duncan. and your current Pickups are already passive, so they are fine. as for wire...
