Parts ID for repair of Ibanez Gio GAXB150

An old post I know, but did you complete the refurbishment on this bass?

Tricked Out Squier Club Part 3

I've had one in my P Bass for a few years. A big improvement over standard Squier but not as good as Fender 62 reissue. Nice sound but I always felt it was a little under powered - that was until I recently got the pick-up much closer to the strings and now it sounds powerful with much better...

Tricked Out Squier Club Part 3

Hi guys, I've followed this forum on and off for years. I hear so many people complaining that the original old Affinity tuning pegs are rubbish and they swap them out for the larger 18mm ones but I have to say that the tuners on mine are absolutely spot on - maybe I am lucky. I've had my Squier...

You have the same 2 amps as me. I prefer the 100c for sound but like you I find the speaker cannot handle the power of the amp. I will swap the speaker one day because I would prefer to use the 100 all the time. Joining the 100 and 200 together gives a beautiful sound but carting 2 amps kind of...

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

Everything about those mods is just sooo wrong. Body bulge, intonation, neck dive and can't even wind the bloody strings on properly. It can't be playable surely.

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

I used an old, previously used set I had in the cupboard. D'Addario ETB92M Deep Warm Nylon Tapewound .050 - .105. I had to trim the nylon off the tuner end and then trim length about an inch and a half off the ends to make them work. They wound on no problem with the nylon winding just catching...

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

No, not neck dive, just falling forward away from my body. New strap locks have sorted that.

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

An update on my recent purchase. Had the Ignition Beatle bass for a few weeks now and the first thing I did was change the strings to nylon tapewounds - massive difference. Luckily I had them lying around and with some trimming they are ideal. After playing a P bass for so long it has taken me a...

I know I'm a little late into this discussion but here's my 2 bobs worth. I have a 100c and a 200c. The 100 can't cut it on its own with a drummer but I love the sound. The 200c is loud enough with the drummer and has a beefier bottom end, but when I daisy chain them together I get the best of...

I have 100 and a 200 - the 100 works well as long as it is into the PA but when we play louder pubs/gigs I like to use the 200 simply because I can hear it better. The 200 is only marginally heavier.

I have to disagree about not that much difference between the 100 and 200 - the 200 sounds and feels much louder. Lucky for me I have both and it gives me the versatility to choose which one comes to the gig with me. I always put through the PA anyway just to add some real bottom end even at low...

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

I tried the bass with it's stock strings on a couple of gigs - it was ok but nothing special. Pulled out an old set of D'Addario Nylon Tapewound .050-.105 which I have had on other basses and fitted them up. What a difference strings make. Perfect for those 60's songs. They'll do me.

    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

After reading through 40 pages of this site, I decided I would bite the bullet and get myself a Hofner Ignition Beatle Bass. They are quite expensive here in Australia but I managed to get a good deal on a brand new one in a hard case - delivery only took a couple days. Bass arrived in good...

Buy a 200 and combine it with the 100, as I do occasionally, and get a full 240 watts - that's a very powerful rig.

Thanks G-Dog, all makes sense now.
