    Worst Neckdive You've Experienced

The absolute WORST for me has to be the Epiphone EB-3 they had at my school's music department. Second is my Yamaha BB-425X although that's significantly more manageable.

Owners of multiple basses: anyone else do this?

All the time!! I have 3 basses that I swap between, my 1996 Fender Jazz bass with Entwhistle JBXNs, my Yamaha BB425X, a recent acquisition and my Tanglewood Rebel 4K a hell of a lot... I tend to go with the one that has the right amount of punch for a track... If I need a tone equiv to a P-bass...

Obscure original versions which were as good if not better than hit cover versions

POLYSICS - My Sharona In general, POLYSICS are one of those extremely obscure Japanese bands that's a bit of an acquired taste for some, but if you listen to the bass lines of a lot of their songs (Rocket, Computer Oba-chan(another cover they did), White snake and Shout Aloud especially) you...

Fender Jazz only with 20 frets; why?

Because you don't need more than 20 to make an outstanding bass line!! it's like asking why planes have 2 wings instead of 4, 6 or 8... Or why cars don't have 8 wheels!! you simply don't need that many to make it functional!! A bass can be playable even if it only has 7 frets... Even better than...

Polysics: can anyone identify the bass please?!

EDIT: I posted in 2012 about the bass... But I found out that you can get a similar tone from a BB Series bass similar to the one in my profile pic as of posting this. If you want the distortion to go with it, you'll need: 1: Akima & Neos Multi-Tube Injector (Extremely hard to find outside of...

'91 Ric 4003s/5 talk me out of purchasing it, please.

Other than the truss rods being a pain in the arse on ALL Ric basses to set (You have to detune, bend the neck, adjust the nuts, release, tune, check and repeat or risk stripping/snapping/stressing the block on the truss rod) I can't think of any... Beautifully crafted, plays like butter... AND...

    Which bass should i get

So far I'd say depending on budget, look at the Fender Jazz bass, modulus "Flea" signature or a Musicman StingRay/Sterling bass. I also recommend having a little look at Yamaha's stuff as well because they have some real nice sounding gear. I personally picked up a BB425X a couple weeks ago...

that is one beautiful SB man... if you want to complete your collection... get on Jauce and Ishibashi and look for: Yamaha SB-2a (byw... at the time of this, there's one for sale on ishi) Yamaha SB-5a (rare find... seen one on ishi a while ago that sold fast) Yamaha SBV-500 (seen plenty on...

    Yamaha Club Part II

you'll be looking at the Yamaha BB 1024X in vintage white then... it's exactly the same as Nathan's main session bass... you can also get the same or even more aggressive tones from a BB2024X... but they are astronomically expensive compared to Yamaha's other models! if you're strapped for cash...

What bass is this? (with picture)

yep... good luck trying to get even an SBV nowadays...if you even think an SB5a would just show up on an EBay listing... keep dreamin' kid because these basses, no matter how cool they are are as rare as rocking horse turds!!

    need some help :( :(

After trawling pretty much every single classified on every inch of every website, I've had no luck finding a Yamaha SBV that is either nearby or comes with shipping, I have come to the conclusion that it would be easier to build my own... BUT: I have taken into account the sheer rarity of this...

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Link Removed this is my main bass :P The above is a 1996 Japanese crafted Fender Jazz bass. it set me back £750 off EBay, it's had a few 'subtle' modifications done by the previous owner... I have no intent on reverting them though because it's got a hell of a lot of growl for a Jazz Bass...
