yea I'm familiar with swirling and It would actually look pretty sweet in purple and orange. but what if the neck is also painted? and I've never taken apart a bass completely and I feel like I'd mess something up lol

yea the D and G is that I meant by higher strings and the only muddy string is the B string. I'm just starting to think it's just the worn out string. and the pickups look to be pretty even already

I'll have pictures up soon but it is a truly awful top. its a very nice sounding fretless and let's just say I was considering maybe removing the paint? I really have no idea what I'm doing and I don't plan on doing it soon. I just want some suggestions on what I can do

recently my buddy let me borrow his homemade fretless 5 string with a MEC bridge pickup and a carvin pickup. haven't had it long enough where I can exactly tell which kind of tone I'm looking for but I really LOVE the tones I get on the higher strings. not really sure what I think about the...

Can someone please tell me the string to string notes for a 6 string bass?

I mean by holding it on my right leg. The shape is weird and it just slides right of your leg

So I've noticed since I got my bass that the only problem is the balance and when I'm resting my right hand thumb I have to push down unusually hard to keep the bass up and I don't have a strap :thumbdown:

Don't go for just weight you have to hold the bass and see if it balances in your playing position. I have a very poorly balanced bass ands it's frustrating to hold the thing up when I play

Price shouldn't be the thing that decides it. Play the instruments and know what your looking for and buy a bass you love regardless of price

I play a 6 string and am curious to see what everyone else is playing and what they play for.

I'm not sure on that one either, but I haven't had any problems with discoloration and it's still extremely clean.
