    Yamaha BB1100S preamp help

Man....screwed that up! The redundant posting text in preview mode confused me....my apologies for that. Was looking for help with 1100S preamp. In a nutshell, active mode has less output than passive mode, which seems weird to me. Looking for other BB1100 owners to confirm or deny that...

    Yamaha BB1100S preamp help

The bass itself is great.....not too heavy like a lot of vintage Yammys, with a gorgeous, highly figured neck. Needed a set up badly, but got her adjusted up and she plays great!

    Reverse Precision Pickups or Standard?

I remember vividly the first time I played out with a bass with the reverse P configuration. I was completely elated by how strong my G string was....it was a whole new ballgame...really felt like my strings were balanced for the first time...

    I lost my dang Geezer!!!!

Lost my gig money last weekend. I ALWAYS put my pay in my front left pants pocket...have done that for 40 years. It wasn’t there. Woke up the next morning and tore my gear case, gig bags and the entire truck apart....was frantic....$125.00..... Finally found it stashed INSIDE MY MICROPHONE...

G&L M2000 owners - how do you tame the beast?

Hey....Spank here....a little late to the party....just thought I’d weigh in. I am loving my M2500 USA this summer. It is a snarling beast of a bass. I also find it a bit challenging to get a sweet, woody P bass sound out of it. The best I’ve been able to do so far is fade all the way to the...

How long has it been since you last broke a string?

    Hehe....wish I had one.

    Worth buying expensive?

Well said! This is how I look at it too. How else can you decide what you like in a bass and what you don’t. You really have to gig with it for a few months to make a good judgement.

How long has it been since you last broke a string?

Years ago before my technique became honed....I used to break E strings by bearing down on the string to hard with my thumb, which was anchored on the string while I was playing on the higher strings. Usually they would unwind more than a clean break, and I would stretch it out to arms length...

Is this neck pocket gap too big ?

FWIW....I don’t believe G&L would let a bass with this kind of sloppy workmanship out of the factory. I’ve seen them sell basses with this kind of gap as ‘B’ stock on their online web store, pointing the gap out and stating clearly that this was the reason for the discount. I am a little...

    Former Lurker....Coming Clean

Hey TBers...The Spankster here. Looks like I signed up 2008. Haven’t done much posting since then....trying to atone for that. Lots of great info here....hoping I can add to that. Been playing bass steadily since 1976. Cover band junkie....some of you might call me a “weekend warrior “. I’ll...

What mods “add value” to you ?

+1 on having the original parts available with the bass. Sometimes I’ll make the purchase for those original parts. Lately I’ve been returning the bass to stock before selling it, and keeping the upgraded stuff to try on another instrument. Usually when I sell a bass there’s something...

NBD Maxed Out Truss Rod Problems

Hey....good morning group.....just wanted to add my $.02 here. +1 on the washer method. Have used this method successfully many times, with a small caveat. If you get too many washers on there, you’re catching way fewer threads. I added washers to a Lakland 55-01 one time, tuned it back up...

Dilemma: A Bass Purge (What to Keep and What to Sell?)

I own about 16 basses, including a large collection of Yamahas, several Music Mans, Fender American jazz. I tend to reach for the most resonant basses....the ones that just ring out with the least amount of dead notes. Also, serviceability is a factor.....nice smooth working truss rods so I can...
