    DAW COMPATIBILITY

I guess the question to ask is "Which do you have now, the DAW or the Audio Interface/Computer?" Do you have a MAC or PC?

Please help - Very amateur recording equipment

First of all, I use Reaper and I LOVE IT! Well worth the $60 and anyone who does not pay for it is a SCHMUCK if they continue to use it! Every bit as good as Pro-Tools that you would pay more than $600! I also have Pro-Tools SE (which I started with) and it actually requires connection of the...

Are some vintage basses losing their value?

I really do not see the value of an old "Vintage" instrument! What would I do with a 1962 J-Bass that I paid $15,000 for? I certainly would not take it out on any gig and if I had any work done on it to actually make it playable (frets, replace tuners, saddles, Etc), would it affect the overall...

    Worship Bass Pedalboards

I don't have a SansAmp either, just saying some sort of preamp/DI where you can control your tone somewhat before it goes over to the sound guy. Ampeg has something out right now that I would probably look into if the need arose. Avalon preamps are really nice but really expensive and don't they...

    Worship Bass Pedalboards

The bass on the first Petra album has some of the best tone ever! Not sure if it is well suited for the average "Worship Team" setting today but it is definitely what I would be going for! Probably very simple too - P-Bass straight into an old Ampeg Fliptop would be my guess.

    Worship Bass Pedalboards

Most Church worship teams I know of plug in "direct" and sound very "canned" to the point that they might as well just have a pre-recorded track! The bass is usually horribly squashed and compressed with little highs or mids so it is lost in the kick drum and both are horribly EQ'd to the point...

Do you find basswood to be tonally inferior to alder or ash?

You would be surprised at how many high-end instruments use basswood. The value of the wood is PERCEIVED so since people will pay extra for swamp ash or alder, a luthier is able to charge extra for these so-caled "Exotic woods." They also factor in how difficult it is to work with certain woods...

    Underappreciated Bassists in famous bands

Within a band, I would say that NO bassist is unappreciated - except perhaps for bands that use a keyboard/synth to fill that role and don't "need" one. Other than that, a good bass player is worth his or her weight in gold and always in demand! Of course for the average music fan, the bass...

What strings for Baritone Danelectro, to make into 6-string BASS E-E standard tuning?

Ernie Ball makes a set that will work for a 6-string Dano. As said, may need some changes to the nut and do a full set-up and you should be good to go!

And now for something completely different (hollowbody advice?)

Ditto on the Epiphone Jack Casady. I think they are discontinuing them and the local Guitar Center had a clearance tag ($450 or so) on the one they had in stock. Almost walked out with it myself!

which way do i turn the truss rod

I agree but would be ideal if he were to find a good tech who could walk him through the process!

    GAS Burnout

You said you live in an apartment so how about putting that money in a bank, get some more money and BUY A HOUSE! Then you will have lots more room for stuff and you can start thinking of that dream recording studio you want to set up in the spare bedroom! :)

Is it possible to busk with a Peavey Tour 700 w/ a 2x10 cab without utilizing an outlet?

Why such a large amp unless you are playing a large venue with a full band? I believe Roland has some DC powered amps that may be suitable but most busking I have seen is 100% acoustic so why not get yourself a nice acoustic bass and you don't have to worry about power!

If you like the various flatwound sounds...

What I like about flats is the earthy, wooden, "Upright" feel and sound. I have a set on my fretless and it sounds amazing (roundwounds on all my other basses). If I had a hollow or semi-hollow body bass, I would probably put flats on it.
