    So let’s build another bass.

Any update? I would really like to know somthing about the 5 strings black P you spoilered. I’m digging your body+pickguard shapes, especially the P

    Mahogany talkin’

Yes. More precisely it’s the #207. I’m afraid to show it as it is now however.. I wouldn’t cause Tom one heart attack. I found the shape to be perfectly fit to my body, the belly contour just gives menthe perfect position in collaboration with the strap height pushing the Bass orizzontally vs...

    Fender P bass-Distance from Nut to bridge/"bottom" side of a P pickup

I had measured various different values regarding the split p position. I set myself to 28,5 as centerline in-between the two coils.

    Mahogany talkin’

Hi all. I’m in need of help from the wood lovers here. I have a Tom Clement bass that lived throu lots of tortures and failures to the point that the body has just to be redone. Sadly. But hey.. let’s take the good side of the situation. I’m planning a complete build of a new body that has...

Dingwall 3 pickups switching with a 4 way blade Tele style

hi everybody. As in the title i’m In need of help. I’m wondering if a switching system for 3 pups as found on Dingwalls could be reproduced with a 4 way blade switch (as the one used on Tele guitars). Precisely I mean this setup: - bridge only - bridge + middle in series - bridge + Neck in...

Let's see those Work Horse Basses!

Early ‘91 cheap Yamaha Attitude Std.5 (pretty rare nowadays), upgraded during years. New Tort pickguard, Nordstrand NP5+Big Split pickups, Hipshot tuners and V/Bal/T Passive electronic. Lately (means already a couple of years..) I’m considering going back to the original setup with 3 way blade...

New Cort model with fanned fret system - A5 Plus SCFF

Hi Alberto, o ciao come diciamo abitualmente a casa nostra. Haven’t tryed it of course since I’m in Italy like you and here, shows as Namm are far from be scheduled. Anyway it really looks like the Ibanez SRAC805 Cerro (regarding the shape) with just the slightly Fanned frets setup. So...

    Winter Build Off 2018 - Gemini 2

It might be just a pic angle but the G strings looks veeeeeeery close to the fretboard edge to my taist. Of course you might be much more talented in keepin’ your fingers where they’re supposed to be and so much cleaner and precise than my angry caveman approach technique

Master Vol / Secondary Vol / Master Tone

hi everybody. I'm in need of help from you wiring-wizards. I'm damn tired of the dual vol + tone on my passive PJ and I would really like to have it wired differently. Since I use the P always ON and I add the J to taste could I wire them with a master volume for the P, a secondary Vol for...

Wing Bass on a Budget - PHASE I

It's been a lot since the last update but long story short it's alive and play great! Here I am in Belgium and he survived perfectly his first flight. Fit as a glove in the little suite case. Here his counterpart, the road-tripping swiss knife I'll post a couple more thoughts in the...

    Homage to Devastator: "Arachnophilia"

I can't see myself tuning a bass both sides but as familiar as I can be with your builds here on TB you really do shock me every time

J PU Position in a PJ setup

That is the important thing however, the only real problem is that if you'll move the J too close to the P you'll miss many things. You'll lose the Mids scooped PJ setup (sort of J+J), you'll lose the Jaco thing completely, etc.. Besides, having 2 pickups so close will mean less variations...

J PU Position in a PJ setup

Quoting completly the Flippy opinions I'll add that it all depends about how do you select your pickups ratios. Do you use a dual volume setup? A Balance control? a 3 way switch P/P+J/J? One way to give you a more solid Jazzy sound from the bridge pickup could be eventually a sort of Dan Luts...

Wing Bass on a Budget - PHASE I

I'll be amazingly proud. Eventually, if you don't mind, wait for the completion. But feel your self absolutely welcome
