Homage to Devastator: "Arachnophilia"

So, yeah... I was contemplating those individual, "Ritter-esque"...string anchors. Even started a seperate thread about them & Bruce was going to make a set...but upon further consideration I decided against it. The cutout on the back & needing the fundamental strings needing to be anchored low were issues.
So I made this anchor plate with these "key hole" ball catches that requires 1/2" holes drilled under each. Not the prettiest thing in the industry...(it will get cleaned up w/edge chamfers & buffed better).... but hey... it works.

The whole situation is tight & crowded... but at least after cutting deep enough slots in my bridge....it is functional....:facepalm::whistle:

Headstock, sporting Grover Titans... (nothing "ultralight" about these suckers)... and front & back guitar string ferrules.
Mega serious space limitations of this area as well. Much relieved to have this sorted.

Decided to go with a jack plate, instead of my usual wood cup...(again, space limitations)...
But definitely not just an oval.... gotta fit the "theme".
So I made this...
Cut on the waterjet from 1/8" brass, & slightly ground to follow the edge contour.

What did you end up for nut width, and the spacing between the primary and octave strings at the nut?
Nut is about...
....crap...I don't remember... (this build has been such a "long and winding road") & I'm home right now.
I think it's 1 -13/16"

The overall spacing at the bridge is .75" on center of the courses.
The course spacing is 4mm (on center) for the E & A
And 3.5mm for the D & G.
I got those d's from @Dadagoboi 's multi string madness thread.... & seem to work fine...

Hey...Happy Labor Day!
My first "working man's holliday'' as a Self Employed Guitar Builder so @ 7 am....I'm already 'celebrating' :smug:
Plus....I just finished the Demon Divine build (finally) so I am in amazing spirits today. That thing came out so badass it ain't even funny.....(pardon my modesty);) but no...seriously:woot:.... (I'll post some pics soon)
Not makin' a ton o' $.....but life is good:D

And...:hyper:
I hooked up my "Abyssal Depths" ...far sensing, under-top, embeded pickups... custom wound & created especially for this bass, by my good friend... @michaelwayneharwood
They are absolutely amazing... & this 8 banger sounds phenominal :D

We just need to up the output of the preamp a bit & this thing will sound "Hammer of the Gods" -like ....as it should.

Any chance of a quick sound clip?

Hi folks
So, I had the distinct pleasure & honor of making a new friend the other day! Super cool cat & just an all around nice guy.
... A VIP in the "progressive" world, (although the band sorta defies genre labeling)
Definitely "bass royalty" ...in my book anyway.
Anybody recognize the gentleman on the left?

The only bass I had on hand (besides my old fretless) ...that he could infuse with his magic mojo...was this crazy 8 banger..(still unfinished)

Wow, didn't recognize him, but I love Dixie Dregs. Too cool! Hope you get to build him a killer Rockhewer bass... :D
That is definitely a possibility,...but one for sometime in the future. Andy is currently very busy preparing for the Dixie Dregs "Reincarnation" tour which kicks off in early March in the eastern half of the country. It will be the original lineup from 40 years ago. I have it on good authority that Phoenix will infact be one of the select cities graced with their presence. I can't wait!:woot:

Had a few days waiting on some materials shipping for the next one...
Time for a little finishing torture? Sure, why not.
So once and for all.... the end of a year + ordeal (on again/off again)...with the "Arachnid".... (sigh...):banghead::sour::spit::spit::***:...:dead:
