Not sure if this has been posted but Jim Dunlop has Marcus playing what looks like a Sire on IG here:

Well you'll be reattaching 2 wires for each pickup, the battery red and black, and then those two wires sticking off the preamp will go through a hole to be attached to the output jack. Everything you need is already inside the bass, just take a picture of the old one to make sure you get...

Those two wires should be signal and ground to the output jack. All other wires should come from battery case and pickups. On another note, seems like there's been a rash of preamp issues lately. I just had to replace the preamp in my brand new V7. Plays and works perfectly now!

Should come with the bass but you have to drill your own holes. Most people seem to choose to not risk it.

Sire V7 5 String Bass, Replacement Bridge & Tuners ^ that thread makes it sound like Hipshot HB1 or Schaller BM are both perfect or near perfect drop ins. I'd measure the machine heads and comparing to the whitepapers myself before doing the replacement but it's a starting point.

Hey, got mine last night! Plays very nicely, sounds good as well. I had a laugh that some people find the peamp to be overpowering, I keep mine turned all the way up and it still has a lower level than my Schecter, but it's easy to adjust the amp. I am finding that my A and D string seem to...

Just for future reference, I had that same problem too. I found that if I "thunked" down on the floor with enough force, I could get the pedal to power off. Hasn't done it in a long time, so I probably just had a bad cable.

do they expect to much or am i just dumb.

See, that's the kind of environment I thrive in. I know just enough to be able to hit notes and I have just good of an ear to follow simple to moderate structure. I love trying to keep up with a better player.

Out of curiosity, would a digital compressor be a good idea?

Whatever you do, make sure you don't cheap out. I used a cheap clip on for a couple months and it wasn't horrible. But one day, it just died. That was extremely annoying.

Why is "Metal" constantly being bashed by "real" musicians?

I like metal. I'm also the guy who gets weird stares from his music nerd friends when he says, "Oh man, Cassandra Wilson's cover of 'Death Letter' is soooooooo metal." I don't like mindless playing and thrashing. I feel like a little awareness of the music that is being played goes a long way...
