    Split to front of house

If you're just going to use it 10% of the time hire the splitter (or the FOH guys might already have one they use - it is a big gig right?).

Using a personal mixer for in-ears

Yes, that's what I was alluding to with the same signal split FOH/in-ears/amp-in - the musician is responsible for the sound production (he is the musician, right?) The stage rig gets the same signal, but amp eq tweaks don't affect FOH or in-ears. It'd be hard for the FOH to reproduce exactly...

Using a personal mixer for in-ears

I don't see the point of having a pedalboard and then DI'ing after the bass - seems like you're missing out on a lot of your unique sound. I'd rather give them the same point as the in-ears, so they get pretty much the sound you hear. The amp eq controls can then dial your rig for the room.

    Monitors

I guess I must be the exception. We formed a band where everyone contributed something to FOH (except the drummer), and monitors were left up to individual people. I bought IEMs, others bought little hotspots and the drummer bought nothing. The drummer always complains that he can't hear...

How to tell the drummer he shouldn't mix our EP?

Any reason not to have both mixes and choose the best one? EDIT: Beaten by LarryO

Ramping Up With Your New (working) Band

I'm with the OP in that I can't remember every song note-for-note in a short time frame. So I try and learn the basic structure of the song and minimum to get me through a gig (and have notes to remember the structure). Then I slowly go back over songs to learn essential riffs/stops/whatever...

Should harmony vocalist get equal pay?

Interesting discussion - I think there's many right answers. I know when band members used to lug PA, their own instruments and amps to a gig - only to watch the singer just bring in a mic - it used to cause resentment. So we forced the singer to supply the PA :) for...

are female bassists more attractive than normal women ?

Yes, but not as hot as female sax players.

Good stuff - love well documented projects like this. Very helpful.

Transcribing bass.. EQ's to dial it in

Pitch it up an octave to hear the low notes clearly - and if you can't, nobody else will be able to either so you can make something up.

Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread

I thought preamp tubes lasted ages but mine went after about six months - amp not used much as it's mostly a backup. Replaced the tube and amp is OK for now. Interesting to hear some others are having the same problem.

    Can't hear my singer?

If the Acoustic B200 is a bass amp, I don't think an SM58 will work either (the mic level signal is 'quieter' than the bass output level). You need to test the microphone with your PA system or one in the shop, or run the mic through a mic preamp.

How Many Songs Are On Your Playlist?

I voted 50-100, but that's because we're starting with a new guitarist/singer. Otherwise it's probably about 130 (and I'd like to add more to make the band more versatile).

    Best 240/230V Preamp

I won't go into the various preamps because it depends if you like it clean like the Glockenklang or more tubey like the Ampeg (sounds like you do). Lots of reviews on TB. But you should be able to get almost anything in 240V at any bass specialty shop, off ebay or from your local classifieds...
