yeah, I believe he deleted his channel somewhat recently. why? I have no idea. I would assume he's a member on here. He got rid of his Facebook acct sometime ago, too.

The Pyramid set consists of 100, 80, 60, and 40. I got the gauges from the Pyramid site. https://pyramid-saiten.de/_assets/_pdf/de/bass-guitar.pdf

That's funny because it was on this day (May 23rd) in 1991 that I officially bought my '79. I had it on a trial basis for a few days before. The seller let me try it out (with a deposit) before I bought it.

Yes, both the Contemporary and ignition basses come with Asian made bargain strings. They're marketed as "Contemporary Strings". They're 'meh'.

The Ignition and Contemporary basses come with the Asian-made strings (made to look like Pyramid, but, they're stainless steel instead of nickel). They're definitely not Pyramid. The German-made Hofner strings are Pyramid and they're the exact same strings as the Pyramid brand strings.

The Hofner branded strings that he's referring to are 100% identical to Pyramid. Hofner does sell another string set made in China, marketed as their Contemporary Set, but those are nothing like the German made strings at all.

Sam Ash is closing 18 stores

I just stopped by the store I used to work at (city of industry AKA Twin Pines Mall) yesterday. Their sale prices were not very good. Most of everything was only 5% off. But, I'm guessing prices will drop in a month or so.

Sam Ash is closing 18 stores

I used to work at the store in Industry, California (AKA Twin Pines Mall) back in 2010. I'm not at all shocked that one is closing. But, really shocked the Hollywood store is. That one was always busy and made great business.

I had the LaBella set a little over 25 years ago. Personally, I wasn't too fond them back then. By that point I was so used to Pyramid being pure nickel, I thought that stainless steel was too bright.

When buying a Pyramid set, their short-scale strings will perfectly fit a 500/1 and 500/2

If you contact Pyramid themselves, they have great customer support. You might be able to get a replacement string, too.

The normal black nylons have green silks, identical to the regular flats.

LaBella makes a black (and white) nylon set for the Hofner much like they do with their regular flats.

Pyramid also makes a great nylon tape wound. I've used those for a few years with no issues at all.
