    My 2cents: I took my new-ish 8-string ( 4 pairs of two - octaves) out to a gig last week. D'Addario EXL170-8 string set. Was getting a MONSTER big piano. Those unison octaves were (unexpectedly) the biggest reason. HUGE bass guitar sound. I loved it!

    These days, paying ~$1200 for a Precision - just because it's MIA - is silly. But Fender gets away with it because there are people out there that don't think so. Kick me in the nuts if you will, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

    Ampeg PF500 Fan noise any fixes?

    I just powered up a new PF500 out of the box. Fan is whisper quiet. Perhaps they "fixed" a previous issue and started using really quiet fans?
