IMO, the Avatar sounds fuller, richer and more powerful AND is cheaper. The only "advantage" I can see in the Ampeg is the muddy rock tone that you wont get from the Avatar.

I do not know much about this, but I think it will only be a problem if you either play at very high volumes or use a lot of distortion of some sort.

I like bartolini for heavy sounds, but if you are going for a little more versatile sound I can recommend Nordstrand and Delano.

The headroom in the internal amp idea makes sense. The synth effect has a noticeable higher output than any other effect in the unit. I do not believe the lack of volume will be a problem, but I am always a little worried when I have to turn the amp up to eight or more.

Both the cabs are 4 ohm. I run them in stereo from the amp or just the 410 in bridged mono. The power handling of the 410 cab is 1000w, and the 212 is rated at 500w. I am planning to change the tube as Alembicplyr did since I am not totally happy with the drive effect.

This is not near as beautiful as the other rigs here, but I am very happy with it. I got the cabs this friday and they sound great. I also think they are pretty beautiful in their own way with the white tolex.

It actually feels pretty similar. I am (as you may understand) no guitar player, but my guitar playing friends say it feels really good! I bet it is the same as the SX basses. They feel pretty similar, and sounds close. But they lack the little extra (which can be fixed with some modifications).

I have not tried them at any high volumes yet. I have a gig next friday where I get to break them in good! The 410 has a much stronger and tighter sound. When I use them both, I only feel I hear the 410, but when I use the 410 alone, I loose a lot of the low end character that the 212 brings to...

Saved up for this bass for a while. But when I got it I played it for about two days before I gave up and went back to my old bass. It was too sloppy and loose sounding. Not tight sounding at all!

My two Avatar cabs came today! They sound absolutely awesome with the mo´.

Did the scarf joints today. The fanned scarf got me thinking, but I think (hope) I got it right. I have also worked some more on the fretless fretboard, but I messed up using the planer. I will probably have to redo the whole fingerboard...

No the fretless will be regular 35" scale. I thought about it for a while, but settled on the regular since it would be hard for me to play in tune since I have little experience with multi-scale instruments. But it would be cool with a fanned fretless!
