I played a concert with my 210 and 212 neo cabs for the first time last night. They sounded great. We play some funky pop music, and the cabs suited that genre perfectly. A massive wall of sound with a lot of clarity on the low B. We played really loud, but the cabs did not show any sign of farting out or anything. I am gonna try them with my loud progressive rock band this next friday. Interesting to see if they suit that genre as well!

Hey all, I just found this thread. I have a 4 ohm Neo 210- with a blown speaker, but it's my own fault I think. I ran it hard with a Crest CA9 power amp, and was jamming a 4-string set to B-E-A-D at a gig. I red-lined the Crest, and 'there we are'. I'm going for a re-cone, and when it's back I'll be using either an Ashdown Superfly or an SWR 350 with it. I'm thinking of another Avatar, and wonder... should it be a 112 or a 212?

It's for smaller gigs, and only want a second (4 ohm also- the rating of both heads cater to it) cab for more lows. I'm using another cab (building an Omni 15) for big gigs, as well as using a different head.

Any advice about which cab to use? This is a less-is-more situation. Thanks!

Last week I got my first ever "stack." I got an Avatar 8Ω 210 to go with my new LMII.

Loving it so far. Now I'm thinking of getting another Avatar before the price goes up.

What do you guys think is a good match for the 210? Another 210?

From what I've read, I'm leaning toward the 212 but I have read conflicting stories. One "Bass Player" review says the 212 is louder than the 410 but the low end is not as deep as the 410.

I play Dingwalls and Fenders for pop, classic rock, funk, blues.

Thanks for the comments. I've only heard the neo 210, which is fine. Nothing wrong with more of that.

I'm just wondering if I'd be missing something good if I don't get something different.

I used to think that big cones meant deeper tone but I guess that is a common misconception. The few single 15s that I've tried have been very mid-range-y. (Ampeg & SWR combos)

If the new 212 has improved low end, that might be the one for me. With that I will have two different flavours when used separately or really loud output when combined.

One thing to consider is that Avatar's 12 changed recently. It is now built to Dave's specs, with a higher XMax for more low end, similar to their custom 10s. So that review might not be relevant.

I also find this pretty interesting. I have a 4 ohm Neo 210 I'm bringing back out of retirement, and I've just switched to an Ashdown Superfly head (from something mammoth). Another 4 ohm cab would be very handy if it carries the lows. Of course this might be unnecessary if I'm going to build a BFM Omni 15...

But the 212 might be a nice way to expand a rig for the modular idea.

Always the threat of GAS nearby, isn't there? :eyebrow:... Gotta watch that...
